I love vehicle combat games, especially when it's some form of mech unit. MAV looks interesting and it's coming to Linux.

The developer said this recently:
QuoteLinux support is still on the list. The amount of testing required to release a build right now is a list about 5 pages long and I am still missing things. If I add Linux support right now, testing time will increase by about 5X and overall stability will drop significantly.

Linux support will be coming once I have the capacity to handle the additionally testing load without slowing the progress on the game.

Be sure to let the developer know you would like to see it on Linux in the linked post. Remember though, just stating "+1" is considered spam.

I think it looks like it could be really fun, I love the customization. The mech in the trailer with two massive shields on its arms looks pretty awesome.

About the game
M.A.V. is a custom mech combat game with a core focus on tactical combat and customization.

You play as a MAV pilot, fighting against an oppressive government trying to turn your home into a forced labor camp. You will be able to build your MAV, piece by piece, into the perfect weapon for your fighting style. You will need to use teamwork and a steady aim to fight against other MAV's and military forces to protect your home and take back the areas conquered by others. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

I hope that video is of a very early version, because those graphics make games from 2003 look beautiful. For real though the mech designing looks insanely awesome and very versatile. Could be a good game if A: The buff the graphics, B: Smooth out the animation quality, and C: Have a decent size community around it because it looks like a multiplayer game.

cryengine 5 and unreal engine 4 Unigine 2 Unity3D are Engines with vulkan support and cross-platform at the moment.
So these 2 engine should be used much more than today. So we could see more better games.

Wow I love it. The ONLY game I miss windows for is Mechwarrior online.
I would definitely buy this.

As for the graphics, its really the gameplay that matters in games like this.

Graphics don't make a game. Sure it looks a little dated, but the gameplay looks fun.

Hell, I'd settle for a pixelated top down version of Battletech, Ye old hex based strategy version! Time to look to see if someone has already released models for Tabletop Simulator...

That's all well and good, but I've grown tired of games with dated graphics. Good gameplay is no excuse for poor art. Good games have both.

I play MAV on PlayOnLinux since about 2 or 3 years i think. I bought it when i was still dual booting, now i'm on Linux only i still play it, it's nice. Still need some job, but it has a quite unique feel i really enjoy.

I actually didn't notice how dated the graphics looked until I was well into the video. This game looks like the perfect remedy to my mech itch. Bland graphics or not, I'm excited to see this come to Linux.

The old graphics look has a rose-colored-glasses charm to it.

It's too bad this isn't out on Linux yet, I don't mind the cheesyness it reminds me of G-NOME by 7th Level - at this rate I'll have tons of games and 0 time :(

Maybe I can send a Steam Machine through a Time Warp to old me when I was screwing around in dependency hell on Fedora Core 2.

Makes me long for the old mech simulators like Mechwarrior2 , Earth Siege and Steel Battalion, now a days it all too arcade-y and first person shooter rather then a sim, I wanna use a Hotas for something other then flight again.
