Megapolis is an older title, but positively rated and it's now on Steam with Linux support. It's a small city building simulator, something more casual than say Cities Skylines.

Never tried it myself, but I've heard of it, any of you tried it?

About the game (From Steam)
Build your own city and make heaps of money in this addictive strategy game.

Construct beautiful and functional city zones with plenty of modern blocks and keep your residents happy by providing all services they need, and they will reward you with a tidy profit. It’s up to you how to play - you can work your way to the top in the comprehensive campaign mode or you can create and play your own custom scenarios. Build dozens of houses, structures and other buildings. Trophies and awards available for the meticulous gamer!

It seems from the screenshots it looks like you can only build in the small diamond? That feels sorta limiting.

It actually looks like a browser game or 90s city builder.

Is that a bad thing or good thing? Or is it a matter of opinion which bleeds into the first question?

/me smashes bottle over head

I want to understand!

I'm a little confused. It looks like this game just appeared on Steam. So, how was it sold before that? The company's website gives no hints that it's available anywhere else. There's a mobile/facebook game by the same name, but it's from another developer.

It's more like a mobile phone or facebook game, It wouldn't impress me if It have social or pay-to-win features.
As for city builders of 90' I rather play simcity 1989, simicty 2000 1994, or simcity 3000 1999 (that also came to linux).
I think all where better than that, and all 90s games.

Well, if it has a big and interesting feature not shown on this video, I could consider it.
