I need help, I want your bright ideas on how to celebrate running this corner if the web for seven years. The official GOL birthday is the 5th of July.

The oldest news available on this current form on GOL is from 2010. Don't you love how informative I was back then ;). Older news didn't make the cut to the two sites we had before this final one.

For our sixth birthday we did a Don't Starve Together livestream (see the pic here) where we all died in the end and it was quite funny. This time, I want something bigger.

I still find it funny the moment I let our original web address (gamingonlinux.info) expire some gambling company purchased it almost immediately.

Here's to hoping I am still here in another seven years!

Here's to you, the awesome readers who always tell me when I am doing something stupid (keep giving the awesome feedback you always give me!).

Special mention to Levi who keeps the server configured so I don't have to think about that side of it, we wouldn't be here without him.

Finally, here's to the editors past and present for helping me on this journey.

I have to say I'm impressed with the community we have here. I almost never get reports of users being terrible to each other and the comments in general are usually informative and helpful. Keep being awesome you guys!

It's also my own birthday next month, someone save me from old age.

Oh yeah, why was I writing this early? Give me ideas on how to celebrate GOL being around for another year! Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Too 90's!

Someone makes a linux-themed cake model (with reference to Portal) in Substance Painter 2 and integrates it into a community made HL-3 multiplayer map, so we can celebrate with a big deathmatch tournament.

The most people of the community in-game as possible would be awesome. Maybe we could try to invade a MMORPG like WAKFU or Ryzom, what do you think?

Everyone sharing a screenshot of them playing their favourite game on Linux (playing on a window so we can notice it's Linux), if there is enough submissions that could be really cool as well (we would need a new module in the website to show the screenshot).

Having a live interview of Gabe Newell.

That would be awesome. Even email version would be great though, which I suspect is more realistic.

Ideas to celebrate :
- You sell a bundle of good games for 3 or 5$ on gamingonlinux
- some people give free keys to GoL supporter (with a game to win these keys)
- you dev a mini game like steam during winter/summer sales
- you contact feral to give away some free keys for tomb raider or x-com 2

Something would certainly be bigger. This will simultaneously test just how dedicated a gamer Liam is.
No test needed, in a relationship. I will offer them cookies and nothing more.
What not even a cup of tea? lol I'd be willing to pay for them just to see the look on your face when they turned up & knocked on the door.

How to celebrate?
1) Tournament in 7 games,
2) All the time rank of 7 best articles in GOL,
3) Your's rank of 7 best games you've played on Linux,
4) Samsai's rank of 7 best games he has played on Linux,
5) Comunity rank of 7 best games they played on Linux,
6) GOL giveaway of 7 Steam keys of 7 great games running on Linux
7) Giveaway from 7 GoL users of their keys that they have never used in the bundles (I've given away some keys, but I have one new that may be very interesting for Linux users :) )

What's most important - do all the 7 listed above points.

That's my idea :).

3 great ideas :D

About the game we could play, if we can trust release windows (yeah, trust windows... :P) we may be able to do a Rocket League tournament :D

Unlikely, Psyonix are working on an huge patch to be released at the end of June, I don't think they would release the Linux version before that.
