OpenMW is the open source game engine for Morrowind that is really quite amazing. If you've been wanting to try it out but you don't own Morrowind, now is a good time. GOG has it on sale for cheap.
I've personally been wating to try this open source game engine, so it looks like the perfect time to pick up a copy of this classic.
It's one game I played many years ago when it first came out, but I had it on the original Xbox console and never finished it. Pleasing that I will be able to on my favourite operating system thanks to the OpenMW developers!
About OpenMW
OpenMW is a free, open source and modern engine based which reimplements and extends the one that runs the 2002 open-world RPG Morrowind. The engine comes with its own editor , called OpenMW-CS which allows the user to edit or create their own original games. Both OpenMW-CS and OpenMW are written from scratch and aren’t made to support any third party programs the original Morrowind engine uses to improve its functionality.

Quoting: GuestIt's immoral to send money to developers for a game that was already paid for many times over.So you're suggesting we should stop paying for games as soon as the devs have covered their costs? Seems legit! :D
I totally agree with Samsai and Liam here. It won't hurt anybody if we pay money for IP as long as there's a benefit for us (e.g.: Playing Morrowind on Linux). Bethesda won't consider porting games to Linux anyhow. But we also should consider donating to the OpenMW project because they're the real heroes who made this possible.
Disclaimer: I already own a physical copy of the game so I don't consider buying it again via GoG.

Seriously Swiftpaw, I already had to clear up the comments once and I sent you a polite PM apologising if you previously felt I wasn't being nice in my comments. Let's not start this again.

No it's fine. I'm glad you agree with our view on it.
Let me be clear though, any comments after this talking about ripping off developers for x reason will just be removed.
Imagine if the developers are reading these comments (and developers do, we have plenty of them here already). Think before you type.

Does anyone else have trouble with the main Morrowind menu screen being purple? I am using OpenSUSE 42.1 and have a GTX 970 with the latest drivers installed.
