You can tell they know what they're doing, as it looks quite fantastic.
From their official website:
QuoteAs well as revealing the first gameplay in over a year, this video also confirms that, after long consideration and knowing through dialogue with our fans that they value quality and polish above all, we’ve made the difficult decision to lock the release of Yooka-Laylee to Q1 2017.
While we felt confident we could ship the game in October as originally projected in our Kickstarter, the Playtonic team has decided that it would prefer to add a few extra months’ polish to the game schedule.
Ultimately, this will allow us to deliver a better game to the tens-of-thousands of you who’ve supported us throughout development. And that’s what we all want, right?
It is always sad when games are delayed, but hopefully we really well get a decent game out of it.

They have done an excellent job of maintaining the same atmosphere we all knew in Banjo Kazooie.

You can see many of the same elements from banjo kazooie. I can't wait to play this game.

Just the way that the two friends talk in end with the funny noises and a textbox makes me feel good.
Such platformers like Super Mario 64 or Banjo Tooie are way too rare (lol!) nowadays.

This is great, all these new titles are making it possible to part with my N64 games and emulated versions on SteamOS.

The more I can depreciate the better, maybe someday Square will release all their Final Fantasy titles on SteamOS. I tend to be developing Linux Gaming Collectoritis.

This game looks awesome!
Just waiting for Yooka Kart, Yooka Party, Yooka Tennis, Yooka Golf, Yooka Football, Yooka Baseball, Yooka RPG, Yooka Brawl, etc.
Seriously, we need a new mascot.

Wow - gorgeous. Hopefully there's difficulty level "very easy" to choose from, I can totally see my kid want to play this too.

It looks like a N64 game with higher resolution graphics, which is great since that's exactly what I wanted when I kickstarted this (one of the last bits of crowdfunding I participated in).

The delay is perfectly okay with me. A release window within one year from the Kickstarter campaign seemed somewhat unrealistic to me from the start.

Take your time boys and girls. Just get me a polished product worth playing.

This game looks so great. Watching the trailer made me want to fire up an emulator and play some Crash Bandicoot or Spyro or something. I've been starved for this type of platformer for years.
