I know it's been a while since the last podcast. The co-hosts and I have just had life getting in the way, having to unfortunately be adults. So for all of us it is either work, or our personal lives at the moment that is keeping us from putting out the show in a timely manner. So I wanted to give everyone an update.
What we need from the community
- 2 more hosts that can fill in when someone can not make it
- Someone willing to take on the responsibility of editing the show
The first one is pretty straight forward. The second one can be pretty labour intensive. So just to give an example of the amount of stuff that gets cut. Episode 4 which has currently not been edited is 4 hours in length. We try cutting that down to around 1.5 hours or so. As there tends to be tangents onto side topics, who doesn't enjoy a good debate about desktop environments! We try to edit out cursing to keep that to a minimum, and other things.
As you can see the most labour intensive part of the process is the audio editing, which essentially is an all day task. This responsibility would be shared between myself, and the other editor. As the format for the show is twice a month. I would edit one, and the other person would edit the others.
All you need is a decent microphone, fluent English, and a willingness to use Google Hangouts as it's how we record. So if you would like to be a co-host or an editor for the show comment below!

Some you may have missed, popular articles from the last month:
Having a decent commute to work, I frequently enjoy a few podcasts (Jim Sterling's Podquisition atm). The structure I've seen them follow on average is:
1. Introduction
2. Topics
3. Listener questions
4. Sign off/Plugging (e.g. "you can find me at X doing Y)
Generally the structure right now is as follows:
1. Introductions
2. Topics
3. Listener questions should there be any *only done 3 episodes so haven had much in this spot*
4. Sign off
The recording length for the show is usually about 2 to 2 and half hours. This one went much longer than it normally does. The other Co-hosts and I were getting caught up on things so it added to the length. Now as far when the shows actual recording time of 2200 UTC on Saturdays, that was chosen as it worked best for the current crop of hosts. but the time is flexible to change to accommodate other people.

I also have experience with audio editing (WtD is unedited as we broadcast live on Twitch). I've edited professional audiobooks(2 on Audible, Mouse and the Dragon Crystal isn't a great book, but I'm pretty proud of the editing) as well as amateur music albums (and professional live music, but that's a different skillset).
I'm fairly strong in my opinions, but I think I can seperate my opinion from the facts reasonably well. (My co-host for WtD and I disagree on various things quite often)
Good luck!
I don't mean to spam the comments, though I'm admittedly excited about this podcast business :D (although it's perfectly fine if I'm not selected as a co-host ^_^)
Send me a pm on here and we'll get it set up.
If a non fluent english speaker is needed, I'd be happy to co-host the podcast, but the schedule is terrible for me.
I understood I'm not the best option, but hey, if for any reason you need a substitute of the substitute of the substitute... (you see my point, don't you?), I'll be glad to help.
