As promised, the Linux pre-alpha demo of the System Shock remake is now available to download from GOG.

You can find the Kickstarter here, where it's getting really close to the Linux stretch goal. It needs around $63,529 to hit it. It's trending to hit $1.4 million, but it keeps going down and I am now starting to worry about that stretch-goal.

I am hopeful, since it has 9 days to go, but it's trending downwards each time I check on it. It needs a real push to hit that Linux goal.

About the Demo/Game
After two decades, Nightdive Studios is rebooting and re-imagining the original System Shock. We will keep the new game true to the classic experience, keeping all the things you loved while giving today's gamers the modern look and feel expected from a AAA title.

This Pre-Alpha Demo will give you a brief preview of the game. Please keep in mind this is a very early demo, so performance, content, etc is not final. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

The fact that they have a pre-alpha before they hit the stretch goal "as a gesture of good faith" says a lot about the devs if you ask me. I haven't had the chance to test it out, yet, but I'm very much looking forward to it!

I backed it yesterday in hopes of pushing it towards the 1st stretch goal :)

I'm confident... with 9 days yet to fund the stretch goal is almost sure. There are a push from the backers in the last days

'Only' $35,300 and change to go, down from $65000 less than 4 hours ago?

I will check the demo tonight, but sceptical about stretch goals. I'm sure they are using stock engine to do it so barriers will be the extra code. Many projects are build that they got this one 3rd party library which is Windows only and whole Linux port is canned cos nobody will rewrite this to be cross platform.

They are using Unity Personal Edition.

Yep, just played. Looks OK for now. Definitely will be interested but don't want to pledge just to find out that they have not reached Linux version goal.

Nice! I won't be able to run it, but that's not why I backed it. I backed it because the game deserves it.

Just finished the demo and it was very impressive. Never played System Shock games before. The last room with rotating view on Saturn was beautiful (and music / feeling of the area were done well).
