Some good news! SWORDY has been given the green light to come to Linux & SteamOS by Microsoft, as the developer was a bit confused due to the Xbox One exclusive deal they have.
From their Steam forum:
QuoteGood news everyone. Microsoft has given us the go ahead.
Sorry for any annoyance or confusion our statements might have caused, it was really just us being overly cautious - not wanting to get in trouble haha.
We'll be getting things up and running for Linux and OSX during Early Access.
We'll be doing a shout out for testers on those platforms - if you are interested in helping send us an email - [email protected]
Thanks!
About the game
Swordy is a local party brawler with chaotic physics-based action. Master the weapons of war, using momentum and timing to fight for your life in a world built on the bones of a ruined empire.
In Swordy you will wield and engage with a variety of weapon types and fighting tactics. Slashing, stabbing, piercing crushing, cleaving, throwing, and dual wielding are available in the form of swords, knives, hammers, flails, axes, shields and more as we develop.

Haha from this article it sounds like the devs behinde swordy have to ask there parents, microsoft in this case.
If they can bring one extra friend to the sleep over.
This isnt my kinde of game to be honest. But I could see a game like this be funny to watch on a lets play or stream.
Im getting some Gang beats feels from this :P.
Maybe its just the art style. Cause that tends to catch me first.

For a non native speaker, can somebody explain what „swordy“ actually means? It's a selfi with a sword in your hands?

I liked the look of the trailer, so I'm kinda excited to see this come to linux, looks like fun. I know $15 usd isn't that much, but it's still making me have second thoughts about it though. Stupid exchange rate.

So MS doesnt consider SteamOS as a console? I cant blame them, I still down know what that is lol

This looks like it will be fun. Now, if Microsoft would focus on their console and leave the OS to the rest of the world...

So does exclusive to them only mean consoles? SteamOS technically isn't a console, it's an OS, now maybe if the Devs said 'we want this on Steam Machine!' there'd be issues?
Granted as a game publisher, Microsoft probably doesn't care, they get their share of the money anyhow, right? As long as those Sony jerks don't get anything.

This game reminds me Gang Beasts (which is awesome with local multiplayer) a lot due to the wackiness.
So it goes to the wishlist instantly. :)

Somehow I just take this as Microsoft porting to covertly try to collect data about Steam Console users.

Let the irony flow, I would laugh when Halo Online starts to run on wine.
