Overlord, Overlord: Raising Hell and Overlord II are all now available on Steam for Linux. Overlord II is also a brand new port today!

Note: You may have issues if you previously purchased them from bundles and other random stores. VP has reached out to Codemasters to add Linux to them. If you're only buying it now, you will be fine.

You can see my previous thoughts on Overlord and Overlord: Raising Hell in my previous article here.

I think Overlord + Overlord: Raising Hell are well worth the money and Virtual Programming did a cracking good job on them.

As for Overlord II, it's a brand new port! I had even shorter notice than last time being told only on the day it's released. So you will have to wait until later tonight for any thoughts on it. In future I'm sure I will get more time to cover VP's ports properly. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Quoting: liamdaweAll of you complaining it doesn't download correctly, is this new purchases today?

If not, I already noted why you can't play it right now.

Yes, boss!

Okay, it certainly shouldn't happen for new purchases! Will poke VP on it.

OK downloaded here now - 2.3GB sounded a lot better than 135MB ;) I had to delete local content as verify did nothing btw.

Ran the config tool the first time then did a Save and Run, which resulted in a black screen.

Killed ('-s 9' - if this makes no sense to you just reboot) the process than ran it directly from Steam and it loaded fine :)

Thanks for the interject Liam!

Dunno where you poked them, but it seems to have been fixed -- I just got a 1.6GB, 2.0GB and 611MB update for Overlord, Overlord II and Overlord: Raising Hell respectively. :D

EDIT: But Overlord still refuses to start, missing libgtk-3.so.0... :(

I'm not installing gtk3 on my system, so it may be time for a refund.

It runs the first time but if I quit then launch again I just get a black screen. Even after kill -9 and exiting steam it just comes up with a black screen, until I reboot.

I had that issue also, but you can turn the mouse sensitivity down in the settings and it should be playable.

I bought it back when they were released. Though, for me the downloads seem to work properly today. Yey, sounds now I certainly hope weather will be bad this weekend.

Quoting: DamonLinuxPLI have graphics issues on Radeon Open Source driver with MESA 12.1

for me it actually stalls the driver right after using radeonsi, you're using r600 right does it stall?

you should totally report the issue on their tracker since you've managed to actually take some screens.

Played around 3-4 hours, and it's running fine on the lower end, no bugs or glitches (r7 250X) SteamOS 2.86 beta :)

Did my previous comments about the missing files sound like a complaint? It's amazing how bad things can sound when they're written down when you can't actually hear how the person is saying it.

I got these games in a Codemasters Humble Bundle a couple of years ago, and they are currently not downloading. Need to wait for Codemasters to activate them I guess.

Thanks, it's been fixed!
Didn't have anything to do, the game had an update ready to download.

Posted black screen issue on the github tracker. They responded that the issue was fixed. Steam downloaded a patch a couple of hours ago and the issue is indeed fixed.

I tried them all and they launch and run fine.
Unfortunately there is a huge mouse issue, it seems to be very delayed, this makes them unplayable to me..

If you move it slowly for 20cm and then back for 20cm to the other side, you can see that the camera movement is absolutely NOT synchronized!

If you have mesa you can try Wine Gallium Nine, i tried the first one some months ago and it ran great :)
