Sven Co-op is a still rather popular standalone modification for Half-Life that has just gained a Linux version.

The game is completely free and you don't need to own Half-Life to play it!

Major changes
- All components now compile successfully in Linux allowing us to provide an alpha state of the game client.
-- The Linux client is provided literally as is. (We know there will be plenty of bugs.)
-- No official presence on the Steam store will be indicated yet.
-- No official support will be mainstream as this is not considered a finished product at all.
- Fixed a severe stability issue when the entity count exceeds 2048.
- Fixed three causes of svc_bad drops.
- Map Robination is back with a major revise.
- Map Sector E has been removed by author request.
- Removed software rendering mode.

See their full changelog here.

I'm downloading it right now if anyone would like to give it a go with me later tonight, unless I completely burn-out after last nights livestream that is! I'm running on fumes right now.

About the game
Sven Co-op is a co-operative game originally based around Valve Software's Half-Life. In this game players must work together against computer controlled enemies and solve puzzles as a team.

While Sven Co-op is similar to Half-Life with similar weapons, monsters, and characters, the difficulty has been increased to suit team play.

Holy crap, someone just hammered my nostalgia button! Used to play this on the Secondary School LAN back in the day. Great game, but as the name suggests, it's very much co-op oriented. Will have to see if I can convince some people to play with me. ^_^

Downloading via Steam right now. I just wonder, does it only make you play original Half-Life single player campaign co-op or are there dedicated maps for co-op? I have played Half-Life: Decay a year ago and it was beautiful.

Wow! Back in the day my PC was not capable enough to run NS2 on GNU/Linux, so I asked Unknown Worlds Forum to port good old NS into Linux.

After many years, I gave up on that mod and meanwhile recently I got a new PC which can run many Linux games. Now NS is avalable for Linux but servers are empty. Better than nothing I guess. :-D

They even messaged me to ask for testing; I did not see, shame...

I'm away from my pc for a week and then this? Bah! All over it when I get home though! Great news as I played the hell out of this back in the day. :D

Funny enough, this is the only game I've been playing with WINE and they wait until I go out of town for a few weeks to finally drop it on Linux.
Can't wait to get back and play this natively.
