A new video has popped up from one of the developer livestreams for Tyranny, which is the big new RPG from Paradox and Obsidian. It looks great!

I really hope that combat isn't as messy as it is in Pillars, that was really annoying.

About the game
In Tyranny, the grand war between good and evil is over – and the forces of evil, led by Kyros the Overlord, have won. The Overlord’s merciless armies dominate the face of the world, and its denizens must find their new roles within the war-torn realm. Players interact with the populace to inspire loyalty, disgust, or fear as they roam the world as an officer in Kyros’ forces, empowered to act as both judge and executioner. Do we actually have a confirmation for the Linux support on this one?
DrMcCoy Jul 18, 2016
Yes. The Steam page has Linux system requirements and an earlier press release mentioned Linux, but I can't find it at the moment. They're also reusing the same general codebase from Pillars of Eternity, so Linux support isn't a problem at all.

Why did you find it messy? Because of the real time?
I've been playing the Baldur's Gate series since forever and I felt right at home with Pillars' combat. The first thing to do though is set up autopause rules, f.e. when an enemy is sighted, dies etc.

It just felt weird, hard to explain it properly. To me having so many characters around, all happening in real time with having to pause to give commands and study the battle, it just felt like a mess.

I do need to give it another try sometime soon though.

Same. I really loved it.

Me, I'm ready for another 500 games just like Pillars.

Another thing, you can put the game speed to slow automatically when entering combat, which helps a lot.
That, and pausing frequently to assess the situation.

Graphically it looks totally awesome... But why oh why do all RPGs have that same fantasy setting? Like, every single one of them? They look like friggin' CLONES! Why can't we ROLEPLAY something else for a change?

Doesn't even diehard fantasy fans get tired of this sometime?

... Still gonna buy it though.

Will it have the same stupid character development system as in PoE? Will it have the same stupid combat system as in PoE? Would it be possible to comfortably play it with single char?

Combat was a nightmare for me as well. But it seems that around the first or second DLC they released a patch that provided AI for the companions so that you don't need to babysit them any longer. I gave it another go recently and this time I am really enjoying it.
