The Unity game engine has release the next major version 5.4, the Linux builds have also just been updated to the 5.4 release.
Unity 5.4 comes with a bunch of useful features like:
- Better multithreaded rendering
- Fewer draw calls with GPU Instancing – available on Windows, OSX, Linux, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One
- Improved low level graphics features: texture arrays, compute shaders, and more
- Cloud Build setup is now available from the within the editor.
- Performance Reporting is now fully integrated in the editor, 1-click activation without plugins or code
And a lot more!

Performance Reporting? Does that mean profiling has been improved?
If so, that will be tremendous for debugging and optimizing unity games on Linux if so.

So Linux and other builds are released the same day?
I didn't watch Unity lately, is this usual these days?

That's definitely something new. Seems like they are catching up and things are getting more stable.

Nice, hopefully in the 48 hours or so a bunch of games will get this update, such as Cities Skylines and hopefully improve their performances!
(That game in particular could really use this update..)

It would be nice to see stable Vulkan support in 5.5 and above. Hopefully in time for the final version of System Shock considering that game needs some performance improvements.

well I try, once again.. but these Unity versions always seems to take >100% cpu on my machine even when you are just sitting there in the editor and not particulary doing anything. I tried the usual nvidia tricks with vblanks and things but it's always the same.. and seems like I'm not the only one suffering.
anyways, there is always godot :)

I wonder if they will someday integrate the SDL2 code in this branch

Doing a good job there on the with the multicore performance improvements. Was highly needed. Unity starts to shape up.
