Good news, after chatting with Team17, it seems Worms W.M.D will now be a day-1 Linux release which is fantastic.

The Steam store page has also been updated with a SteamOS icon and a section ready to put the Linux system requirements in.

About the game

Work your way through 30 campaign levels of increasing difficulty using the huge arsenal of new and classic weapons at your disposal. Use new vehicles to cause chaos amongst the enemy ranks and use buildings to gain the tactical advantage as you try to dominate the battlefield!
Take on up to five opponents in hilarious all-out tactical worm warfare with up to eight worms each, either in local or online multiplayer, including ranked play. Flatten your opponents with the Concrete Donkey. Turn them into chunks of worm meat with the Holy Hand Grenade. Rain down hell from above in helicopters or pound them into oblivion with the tank. The only 'extra' launch content is the All-Stars pack which is the preorder bonus. This will not be sold post launch as it containts many IPs from different parties.
There is no 'Day 1 DLC' that you'll be required to buy for extra content. Nor are there any microtransactions.
Of course in the future we are looking at ways we can expand Worms W.M.D with DLC, but that's a bit of a way off.
Fun Fact about the preorder bonus: If you don't have it and face someone online who does, you'll get access to the content for that match.
