Arma 3 Linux beta has been updated

The Linux beta version of Arma 3 (which still isn't officially supported) has been updated once again.

Today we've updated the Linux & Mac experimental ports to version 1.58. Kudos to @virtualprog. More Intel: https://t.co/BdQzkTwFOC - Enjoy!

This is version 1.58, so it's not currently as up to date as the Windows version. This means you won't be able to play online with your Windows pals just yet unless they are using the same version.

It looks like this version now has BattlEye anti-cheat enabled for Linux gamers, so at least we can play on servers using it now.

You can see what the 1.58 update did for Arma 3 on this official update post (released for Windows in April).

Issues
Sadly, I still have a major issue with the game.

The textures option is buggy for me, in the way that it won't let me pick the level of textures that I want. Half the time it will only display Low textures, and if I do manage to get the other levels to appear in the box, selecting them will only work for a few moments before it drops back down again (can actually see it dropping down in-game sometimes if I manage to do it). I even did a video to demonstrate the issue:

I believe I am one of only a few who have the issue, but it makes the port unplayable for me. As I really don't want to play a game like Arma 3 with my 980ti on Low.

You can find Arma 3 on Steam here.

Super happy, another step has been done. Does someone have a server list for experimental ports?
DasCapschen Aug 9, 2016
Had received the update already a few days ago (and was then downgraded again...) and asked BI about it.
They told me after 1.58 the port team starts working on 1.62 right away, so in not too long (I wonder what takes them so long to port an update anyway) we should hopefully be able to play with Windows players :)

But in the meanwhile are there servers to play online? Any server I tried kicked me out... ;(

The battleye does not work as supposed, because almost all the servers will kick because of unknown Battleye version. I was trying to start my server, but the server version for the experimental port is still only 1.54 :(

They have now posted an official update, stating the 1.62 Apex update should be next: https://dev.arma3.com/post/sitrep-00168

Yeah I have issues connecting also. It says connection refused, its one server with 4/8 players on it, its the only one active @1.58 so we are stuck, unless the other servers we can connect to but no one is on atm.

"BattleEye: unknown game version"

Nice!

I do not own the game but I tried it on a free weekend and it was working great on AMD!

A lot of people turn the PC on just to play this game. With some constant and stable updates some of them may give Linux a try, or at least consider it as a good alternative!

I played now for a few hours flawlessly in a Linux DS server with battleye active. My gamer performance was worst, but my pc played on 55-70fps with all set to high/very high AA 2X except for texture on standard.
My specs are Asus GTX780 DirectCUII, intel i5 4690k, 16gb RAM, ssd samsung pro

For those having the BattleEye error, are you trying to join servers running this older version? It's likely most servers are running the more up to date Windows builds (which obviously won't work).
