Boyle Wolfbane wanted to rule the world. He failed. Miserably. Forced into retirement early, Boyle now spends his days arguing with haunted trees and scaring off the occasional knight. At least he still has Fang, his loyal storm wolf. Things could be worse. He could have been born a hero.

Aveyond 4 is a game filled with humour and fun. The 30+ hour RPG will keep you engrossed in its humorous storyline, witty dialogues, beautiful artwork and soothing music. The game features seven playable characters, each with his/her unique personality and dozens of areas to visit, monsters to fight and items to collect. What's more? Along with the main storyline, there are dozens of side quests you can complete to earn special rewards, ranging from a bag of gold to a magical creature.

Features:
- Recruit minions
- Collect magical cheekis
- Take part in a night watch
- Join a coven
- Transform friends into creatures
- Discover mist portals

This game and the earlier ones are now available completely DRM free! If you have already bought the game, you can re-download it, though this is not necessary. Buy once, play on as my Linux PCs as you like!

So far kind of fun, but there have been a few issues:

1) As already reported, I have came across 2 places where the text overflows the box (not a huge deal, I guess).

2) I had one issue with clipping - where basically I got stuck on a tile that I wasn't supposed to be able to walk over, resulting in needing to load my save game.

3) This is the biggest issue: After playing for a bit, things get incredibly choppy when moving up/down. Moving left/right is fine, but moving vertically causes all of the character movement frames to drop (and the sprite itself), so it seems like the character just teleports up/down - plus there is a noticeable lag/pause. It is very annoying. Leaving an area and returning to it (basically a map load) sometimes cures it, sometimes it requires a restart.

#3 is almost game breaking, really - I have had to exit the game at least 5-10 times already, and I am only a few hours into it. Also, the game doesn't appear to support widescreen resolutions at full screen ?

#2, probably a one position glitch. These occurred during testing once or twice, but I couldn't fix them, because they weren't reproducible here.

#3 is a known intermittent bug, and I am still finding a solution for it. It probably has something to do with caching. A quick fix that mostly works instead of restarting is to simply save the game wherever you are and then again load it from the menu.

I also came across a another bug now where the battle system completely looks up, requiring alt+tab (or switch to vt) and manually killing the process - looks like it spikes the cpu core it is using at 100%. The game is pretty fun, but this plus the other bug makes the port pretty buggy. Since it isn't on Steam, how will people know if/when updates are released?

Okay, now this is completely new and didn't show up during beta testing. Can you send me the save file and how and when it happens? You can contact me at [email protected] or (better) post on the official thread about this and any further bugs. Also, if possible, if you were running the game using a terminal, can you let me know the output?
Thanks for reporting these bugs. It means a lot!

I still haven't figured out how to let everyone know about the updates, but the current plan is of a mailing list to everyone who has bought it and a post on the Aveyond forums. Any suggestions?
