CD PROJEKT RED replied to me about The Witcher 3 and Linux, flat-out denying to answer any questions
With all the hoo-ha about The Witcher 3 and the replies GOG have given (first being it was never planned, second being they don't know), I finally have an answer from the actual developer of The Witcher 3.
Yeah, I know, I'm writing about this again after saying I probably wouldn't, "please make it stop" and all that.
This is the first time CDPR have ever actually communicated with me directly.
I replied right after this, and immediately got an out of the office auto-reply. Hmmm.
There you go, an official comment from the developer of The Witcher 3. It clears up nothing, it's a flat-out denial to answer my basic and easy to understand questions.
It does raise the question though: why reply at all when you're essentially saying nothing?
I don't think we will ever truly know what happened, I expect no one to talk about it as I imagine both Valve and CDPR want this snafu buried.
I will just leave this here again for posterity, to remind myself and you to never pre-order based on developer promises, not even a big banner on Steam itself:

I don't understand it. If they said "There was miscommunication between our office and Valve" and "I am afraid that Witcher 3 will never arrive at Linux, we are using this and this middleware" then mystery is solved. But these kind of responses?

My impression is that you won't get any further with modern ways of communication. If you want to find out more, you need to pick up the old fashioned phone and make him talk ;)

I'd like to hope it all means that they actually want to revisit or at least reconsider Linux after they develop their engine further or Valve develops SteamOS further, or both, but are afraid of publicly committing to that intention.

Well it seems obvious to me that they are just trying to keep their options open, without committing to any course of action (yes/no).
Probably, but this is just guesswork here, they are going to give it a go at some point and see if they can get a decent build.

I will go with - if they would have flat out answer "no", they would have told us at this point. I suspect things went sour a bit so it is left up in the air and is most likely above guy's pay grade to answer this question in first place.
I thing we got so far as we could. If people feel cheated, they should take it up with Steam, Valve and CD Projekt RED. You have done all you could.

Even saying nothing is an answer. It tells you it wasn't a mistake. I says that they have no clue yet what they will do. And that tells me that it wasn't a mistake, but they found themselves without an easy option to make it happen.
Anyway, I'll see it when it happens. Otherwise my time will be spent playing something else.
