It seems GOG support got it completely wrong on The Witcher 3 for Linux. A different person inside GOG has said they have no idea why a previous staff member said TW3 was never planned.

I did think it was a little bit odd that support at GOG should be this well informed of such plans (or lack thereof). Even if they are owned by the studio, anyone who's worked for an employer this large (they are close to 400 employees as far as I understand) everyone does not know about everything that goes on.
They are not even located in the same country: GOG offices are located in Cyprus, while CD Projekt is in Poland.

Yeah, I would never ask confirmation or even take confirmation from support for such things. Regarding small features, prices, etc. yes, but they aren't that well informed about any future plans.
W3 still might not be happening on Linux, but I will guess it is not that simple 'yes' or 'no' answer at this point, which makes sense.

Maybe it's just simple as this previous member of staff having some type of Linux antipathy? Seems like a straight out emotional response now. "no plans of releasing The Witcher 3 on Linux and there never were any"...

Maybe thanks to this we will have a final status.
A VP port would be fine for me. TW2 port sucks, but newer ones work pretty well (even though Feral and Aspyr ports work much better)

Actually both are located in Poland, but GOG is registered in Cyprus. Kinda like how many US companies are registered in Nevada or Delaware even though they may conduct little or no business there. I do believe that GOG has a US office in California aswell.

As I know law in my country, they can get money support from government as game developer, so they are registered in Poland. If GOG platform was registered homeland they will have to pay larger taxes.

I kinda figured the GOG Support rep was wrong and now this confirms it. I stopped holding my breath for this game on coming to Linux, hopefully will come.

I think just CDPR was complaining about bad press because they probably had planned a SteamOS version.
Since they're not on DX12 they could never have hoped for Vulkan. The reason would be interesting, not judging if the port was done or not, but their decision base (financial, talent, ..) would be interesting. They're certainly not short on money after TW3, but they've to plan 5 years ahead.

I've given up on GOG/CD Project Red at this point. A Linux version of GOG Galaxy has been one of the most requested features on the user wishlist for YEARS, and has been 'in progress' according to the FAQ for years and years with no updates. I've lost all hope of GOG/CDPR porting anything to Linux.
