Heroine's Quest: The Herald of Ragnarok [Official Site] a hybrid RPG/Adventure game will come to Linux. The developer is looking for testers to report back on a test build to help them polish the experience.

You can see the forum topic here and see how to download and test their build.

About the game
In desperation, the jarl of Jarnvidr has called for a Heroine, to stand against the forces of frost and put an end to the lasting winter. Her might, sorcery, and cunning may be humanity’s last resort. Are you up to the task, or will you die trying?

Heroine's Quest: The Herald of Ragnarok is an adventure / RPG hybrid. Like in many adventure games, you have a world to save, and must use your wit, guile and inventory to puzzle your way through.

Thanks for pointing it out in our forum Yaumeister!

This is good news!
I look forward to playing this game under Linux.

(I was one of the people who asked them about Linux progress. Maybe my post reminded them to (more actively) look into it? :))

Yeah, me too. I started that thread. I am happy to see it was not all for nothing. It's not very often that devs respond to this kind of threads, let alone come with a positive and promising answer. Let's hope they finish the port. It happened in quite a few cases that devs made progress with their ports but eventually dropped the idea, giving no reason, only silence.

Nice as a big time Hero's Quest/Quest For Glory fan, as well as a Sierra fan in general, I look forward to playing this, as well as Hero U, assuming that game ever gets finished.

I like the art style. It reminds me of one of my old time favorites: Legend of Kyrandia 2: The Hand of Fate (which, by the way, is also running nicely on Linux via ScummVM).

For games like these i think they should hire people from "Nordic" Countries for proper pronunciation :P
Ragnar Rock? :P

To be fair I think the work done on all of their games are from people who can volunteer time, effort, and resources to the games being made. I don't even think they sell any of their games either, so they probably take the best they can get at any given time.

Good. It was already playable by building AGS from source, but nice to see them releasing for Linux officially.

See here. On a side note, I wish AGS already would switch away from using Allegro to something like SDL.

The test download worked fine for me, just had to follow the included text file. Game looks good, so hopefully they can do it quickly!
