It seems Homefront: The Revolution is still coming to Linux, as it has recently popped up on SteamDB. I've spoken to the developer and publisher a few times, who repeatedly stated the Linux version was not cancelled, so it looks like it was being worked on.

I was pretty excited about it before release, but the reviews really aren't all that good. I will do my usual thing and give it a properly honest look when it's available for us.
About the game
Homefront®: The Revolution is an open-world first person shooter where you must lead the Resistance movement in guerrilla warfare against a superior military force.
A living, breathing, open world responds to your actions - you and your Resistance Cell can inspire a rebellion on the streets and turn Occupation into Revolution, as oppressed civilians take up the fight.
But your enemy has the advantage - superior technology, firepower, heavy armour and air support. You must learn the art of guerrilla warfare – ambush, sabotage, infiltration, deception – and fight a running battle through the war-ravaged suburbs of Philadelphia.
And the single player campaign is just the start – in Co-Op you and your friends can form your own Resistance Cell and become renowned as Heroes of the Revolution.
Some you may have missed, popular articles from the last month:
Game looks nice and i would love to play some more FPS with controller in the living room, but all these bugs and negative reviews give me a headache. Will think about it again when its released.

Quoting: KeyrockHere's hoping for Vulkan support by the time it drops for the penguin. I suppose that's more up to Crytek than Dambuster, though.
Vulkan is for CryEngine V. This game is CryEngine 3. Probably a late 3 since that is where Linux support got in.

Of course it's going to be out. After Windows users got to play it for free over the Steam free weekend that just passed...
Anyway, I played it under Windows which I installed recently (giving me a quad-boot setup now - Debian with amdgpu+Mesa, Ubuntu+fglrx, Ubuntu+amdgpu-pro, Windows). I don't usually run Windows at all, but recently re-added it for a small number of games I really want to play that won't work with Wine for the foreseeable future due to DX11 and copy protection issues. I don't plan on making a habit of it.
Anyway, here are my thoughts:

If the game runs anything like the Windows version, this will be a bad game. Note that the issues I had were generally not performance-related. If you like sandbox games, play Shadow of Mordor first before picking this one up.

This game doesn't have mixed reviews, it's got horrible reviews. It's at a metascore of barely 50. So don't get blinded by the glossy graphics on this one folks - read a few reviews and see if it is worth your time.

73 of 100 from my favorite magazine.
"Average."
But then, we don't have a huge amount of such games on Liunx.
Let's see...

Does it still prevent you from shooting through gates? Haha.

Quoting: omer666Quoting: liamdaweI am personally hoping it's at least okay, as I've been wanting to try it for a while.
To be fair, RPS' John said he recommends it despite its flaws.
Thank you. I'm glad someone mentioned that review at RPS. It single-handedly cemented my future purchase of Homefront (whenever it comes out on Linux.) As a huge fan of the glitch-laden masterpiece Saint's Row 2, I know there's more to my enjoying a game than multi-player PVP modes and photo-realistic graphics, two things I remember predictably cited by many negative Steam reviews.
I"m glad to hear it's release feels ever closer. It. Shall. Be. Mine.

I´ll almost certainly get it as well. How quickly will depend on the price. I played the first "Homefront" game on windows and despite the negativity surrounding it, I still felt I got my moneys worth in FPS entertainment. Of course when I bought it, I believe it was priced at around 15 euro.
My main issue with that game was nothing more dramatic than that I wished it had been 20-25% longer for more prolonged gameplay. So unless this game is significantly worse, buying it is a no brainer.
