If you're excited about the release of Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II for Linux you may want to tune in to Feral Interactive's livestream on Wednesday.

This Wednesday we take the first ever look at Dawn of War II for Linux, live on Twitch: https://t.co/kbDZOaA0zS #FeralPlays pic.twitter.com/CApnHt1LUZ

It will be at 5PM UTC (BST is british summer time which is +1). Be sure to follow Feral Interactive on Twitch. For those that don't know, you can use livestreamer [Official Site] to watch Twitch streams with your favourite desktop player.

Sadly I won't be there as it's during family time for me, so you will have to let me know how it goes. I will likely have my usual port report up on the games at release.

I got the game within a Humble Bundle. Never thought that I could play it once. :)

If you like to follow several streams on a regular base, it might be a good idea to go for Livestreamer Twitch GUI. The program helps you to configure your custom player as well as notifies you of streams going live. It has the option tu use a nice, dark ui and Login to your Twitch Account to chat as well.

There should also be packages provided for your favorite distro as well as Windows.

Livestreamer Twitch Gui + MPV = <3

How did I miss that? Thanks!

Thanks for the tip, I will try it as soon as I get home. I might start watching streams, after all.

That' really cool! Makes quite a bit sense as they are releasing the day after. But why advertising with BST, I bet more costumers use CEST, BREXIT?

I actually had to google BST, to be fair. I think the real question here is why not GMT/UTC? This is the only one needed, in my opinion. Giving something else force people to lookup the difference between the given timezone and GMT, then convert back to theirs :/

Well, just gave a shot at livestramer (twitch gui). It works great, though not with vlc, interestingly. I think I will just stay with mpv for the time being, then.

I've added in the UTC time for people to not get confused.

Feral are British, they use British time, but I agree it would have been simpler to put it in UTC time.

Twitch auto switched to the html5 player for me a while ago as I don't have flash installed.

Not realy, it's automatic to use your own local time, Someone asks me the time I tell them our time, Not UTC time :P

personally I've been using Orion (found in the AUR), there's no ppa for debian/ubuntu yet, AFAIK. Orion is qt5 based but uses mpv as a backend. it has a clean and compact GUI, with one button that expands the labels if needed. it also uses GTK headerbars if you are using GNOME. As well as notifications and such when streamers go online/offline, and login account support.
the source is here: https://github.com/alamminsalo/orion

looking forward to the stream.

Ohhh :-( .. twitch is blocked at work.
lucifertdark Sep 28, 2016
I'm going to have to wait till Thursday to start downloading the game & then it'll probably be Friday before I can try it out. Oh well, at least I'll have the bug reports to laugh at while I wait.

Thanks for sharing this, Liam! We go live in a couple of hours. Hope to see you all there.

Well, unfortunately the stream was abruptly cut, but it was a nice show anyway. Thanks feral !
