With no announcement anywhere the SteamOS information from the Shadow Warrior 2 Steam page has vanished. They previously had a SteamOS icon ready and SteamOS system requirements, both of which have just—gone.

It's pretty sad news, because this indicates it won't be a day-1 Linux release.

I hope no one pre-ordered, because you might want to look at cancelling it until there's some clear information as to what is going on. That, plus, pre-ordering is dumb.

I've tweeted and emailed them today, so hopefully I will be able to give you some sort of update on this. There's also this forum post asking about it by another user.

I'm personally sad as I seriously wanted to give it a try and with no communication from the developer (like we wouldn't notice it suddenly vanishing), it's a bit of a sketchy situation right now. Why silently remove it without a simple announcement anywhere?

About the game
Shadow Warrior 2 is the stunning evolution of Flying Wild Hog’s offbeat first-person shooter following the further misadventures of former corporate shogun Lo Wang. Now surviving as a reclusive mercenary on the edge of a corrupted world, the formidable warrior must again wield a devastating combination of guns, blades, magic and wit to strike down the demonic legions overwhelming the world. Battle alongside allies online in four-player co-op or go it alone in spectacular procedurally-generated landscapes to complete daring missions and collect powerful new weapons, armor, and arcane relics of legend. In my steam recommended games list , shadow warrior 2 appear. And it's so strange since it have a linux filter. Is first time a game only for windows appear on that list. It's a bit confusing.

Quoting: m2mg2It may have been somewhat Fedora specific, or if you played somewhat recently it may have been fixed. It was ~2 years ago when I played it. I found the bad fix of killing pulse audio in a virtual terminal from someone through a google search so I was definitely not the only one.

i played it at launch day and then after the visuals/performance upgrade patch. However i use usb soundcard, if that makes difference.

Noooooo uhuhuuu..... I want this so much!

But why is it always a problem to release on linux too, even if they use an actual UnrealEngine? Is the UnrealEngine in the end not as cross plattform compatible as they try to make people think it would be?
All those shiny new games using unreal engine end up with "maybe later", "not on release" or haveing "horrible broken graphics" and os on.
Or is the real reason, that most developers have absolutly no clue what linux is ? Sometimes I get the feeling that even installing/using a modern Linux distribution is a serious problem for them. If I see bugs on steam like "missing execution flags" and simple things like these, I am really shocked. ( I mean these kind of things that typically happen if people try to manage linux binaries in windows. )

Or is windows only DRM the main showstopper for AA or AAA games and cause the delay for us ?

My first posting on your site. Just spotted that Shadow Warrior 2 on Humble Bundle is listed as having Windows, Mac, Linux steam-key versions. Here is the link: https://www.humblebundle.com/store/shadow-warrior-2

Now, I realise that it is a pre-order, and it doesn't mean there'll be a Linux version on day-1 but it is still promising. The release date is listed as 13th October 2016 on HB.

Looking forward :)

Interestingly, GOG are most careful about listing supported OSes. Unless Linux is really confirmed on day one, they don't list it in the upcoming game tab as supported OS.

For what it's worth, in this video at 44:00 min a developer says that he thinks there will be no Linux version.
