I have recently adjusted the way subscribing to articles and forum posts works, to make it clearer and work as actually expected. Personal messages also got a minor bug fix.

Instead of having two tick-boxes, there is now a single tickbox to subscribe to article comments or forum topic replies, and then a dropdown to select the type of subscription. This makes it much clearer on what you're actually doing, along with adjusted wording to be more explicit.

Also, before if you replied and unticked the subscribe box it would leave your old subscription in place. Now unticking it will remove your subscription (as you would expect it to).

You can adjust your auto-subscribe settings at any time in the User Control Panel.

You can check your subscriptions to article comments here and forum posts here.

In addition these two pages now allow you to unsubscribe from all article comments and all forum posts, instead of doing it one by one. That cannot be undone, but you can subscribe again to individual posts of course.

Also, minor note, emails sent from Personal Messages have been adjusted. Previously the linked title of the message sent you to your inbox instead of the message itself. That has also been fixed.

If there are other minor issues and features like these you need addressed, comment on the article and I can add them to my list.

All thanks to my Patreon subscribers, getting money from there allows me the time to gradually improve our systems, thank you! Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Do subscriptions without emails actually do anything? I have two pages' worth of articles I'm subscribed to and I have yet to be notified of anything.

Yes they are tracked on the linked page earlier, which can be accessed any time from the UserCP.

Although currently they could be a lot more useful, they are currently just sorted by date. I will be adjusting them to be sorted by the date of the last actual reply to give them an actual purpose over than being a place to unsubscribe :)

Edit: Eventually I will make it show you a notification in the menu bar for new replies :)
