The Steam Hardware Weekend sale is now live and it seems Valve now sell accessories for the Steam Controller.

All items are now 30% off, but this does not include Steam Machines. Although for me in the UK it seems the Alienware Steam Machine is currently on a deal too.

I'm not entirely sure how long they have been doing this, as I haven't seen it announced anywhere. You can now buy a Wireless Receiver, a Carrying Case, an Aperture skin for the controller and a special Battery Door that has space to store the Dongle.

They can be purchased as a bundle, or separately. I was wondering how long it would be before Valve sold the Wireless Receiver by itself considering I've seen a number of people break theirs.

You can grab the accessories, a Steam Controller or a Steam Link for much cheaper than usual. Now's your chance to bag some cool kit!

Too bad the Alienware Steam Machine is not on sale in France. But the rest of the Steam Hardware is, as well as some games.

I've been using the original box to travel with my STEAM controller as I go. That case looks tempting but I would like to feel it before getting it and being disappointing.

liam, some times since you bought a steam controller, are you still happy with it ?

How the heck have people managed to break the wireless dongle?

Yep, still enjoying it.

I think this is more a question of losing it, isn't it?

I mean, I have two controllers, and one of my dongles is collecting dust somewhere at the moment...

... while we in Norway still only get the "coming soon" message on the controller page. :(

That's sad, was considering picking up one even though I'm not a controller guy. Let's hope they do well elsewhere, so chances of Valve expanding increases.

I broke mine while trying to unplug it. The case split and since then it won't connect unless I tightly squeeze a specific point just above where the USB plug is soldered on, and it disconnects as soon as I let go. Luckily, they replaced it free of charge.

In Denmark you can buy it at your local GameStop. It is often not on display though, so you have to ask. I bought it a while ago, and it was about the same price as the Steam price plus delivery, without having to deal with the actual international delivery.

Edit: Swedish GameStop also seems to have it available.

I was wondering why there was no dongle storage. 14€ for a piece of plastic? That's why.

Or, if we're a bit less cynical, maybe they just didn't think it was needed. Also, this is the first version of the controller ever; there's bound to be a design flaw or two.

Considering this is version 1.0, it's amazing just how much they got right!

I had no idea any of this existed until now. I don't know if I like the idea of stickered controllers, if they were a more permanent mod I would happily buy them.

However I have to admit that in CS:GO my Xbox 360 controller currently feels the best, maybe because joystick pads don't extend to 100% of the circles edge by default -- dafuq?

I'm still waiting for gamers and manufacturers to mod the controllers and sell them, can't wait.

(Im seriously tempted to buy 4 PS3 or PS4 controllers as they're bluetooth and have a good layout.)

I think it's more common in the UK to consider collective entities as a plural subject rather than a singular one. e.g. "The team are here; Valve are making progress" (UK) vs "The team is here; Valve is making progress" (US).

No Steam Controllers, Steam Machines or Steam Link hardware available to buy via Steam in Australia yet. The hardware has been out elsewhere for so long, that I doubt it'll ever be available outside of a select few countries.

My local GAME store has been selling them and did a bundle which was reasonably well priced and actually cheaper than getting direct from Valve once you took postage into account. They seemed to sell well too as my attempts to buy there kept being foiled by either the controller or link being out of stock and the staff confirmed that the devices kept selling out.

I popped in the other day though and they have bumped the prices up to £100 per item! You can buy a whole console for not much more than that. If you want to guarantee that you kill demand for something, there's nothing like jacking the price up to an insane value...

Here in Argentina too :( ... If We want to get the Steam controller, we must use Mercadolibre... Is what I did...

The skin is ok but not very good. The green circle around the Steam button is off-centered and the Aperture Laboratories logo is too close to the roundy-touchy left thing (idk what it's called) that replaces the DPad.
Also the battery door seems to be the standard one... is there an alternative for the new one that includes the dongle as well?

For me, the most interesting accessory is the new battery door. It's so annoying having to open and close the box (I kept the original one) every time I want to play wirelessly... Lately I became lazy and just left the receiver connected to my PC (I don't like that).

The replacement receiver is ok as well, for people who lost theirs. And the carrying case is very good as well, I'd rather keep that and get rid of the original box, if it has special pockets for the data cable and the wireless receiver extender (I don't want them loose in there and potentially scratch my SC)

I think Valve could do better than that... but it isn't bad also... I really want to see more skins available... that would be really cool. I just hope the product quality is good.
The SC's quality for me was good so far, except for a few small marks on the "DPad" thing, they are barely visible but I know they are there and it's annoying. It may be OCD, or it may not, but I really want my SC to be perfect, since it's very precious for me (my first real controller, bought from my very first own money -first salary-, and I also love the way it works and feels)
