Little late on this due to inbox spam (too many games getting released!), but it seems Dolphin [Official Site] the GameCube and Wii emulator can now boot every GameCube game in the official library [Their news on it here].

QuoteEvery single GameCube game can at least boot in Dolphin 5.0. Except one. Star Wars: The Clone Wars and its complex way of using the PowerPC Memory Management Unit rendered it unplayable in Dolphin up to this day. But finally as of Dolphin 5.0-540, this challenge has come and gone: Dolphin can finally boot every single GameCube game in the official library.

That's quite an important milestone for an emulator to achieve and should be applauded. Impressive work from the developers!

They detail why this particular game took so long, so if you like the glorious details go take a gander at their post.

Just remember, ROMS for emulators may not be entirely legal where you live. I still don't understand the law around it here, so I generally steer clear of it all. The choice is up to you though of course.

I personally think emulators are very important to preserve old games and systems! Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

What is the best way to get the Steam controller working with Dolphin? Is there a profile I can load into SC Controller?

they deserve every donation they can get. Emulators are IMHO more importend than the original platforms ever where. Because they preserve games and allow people to enjoy them after the original platform is dead(and noone would get anything from sales). The best would be to just bring every game on PC(Linux etc ;) ).

Quoting: GuestOh man.. saw that Beyond Good & Evil screenshot before reading the title and got all excited. I freaking loved that game.
It is a great game, and the PC version is very affordable on Steam and GOG. Should work perfectly on Wine as well. Maybe GOG could do a wrapjob for us? I've been tempted to buy it on several occasions, but I don't buy Windows games.

Oh, and Dolphin is an excellent project with an even more excellent development community. Well done that lot!

The controller setup for Dolphin is extremely configurable. It automatically detects my Steam Controller as an Xbox 360 controller, and all inputs are recognized (and can be remapped, if that's what you want).

I've been using Dolphin for years, and it's amazing to me how well they manage the project and keep improving both performance and emulation accuracy. The blog entries are also very well written, and fascinating to read from a hardware geek perspective.

This sounds particularly naughty to me, I don't exactly know why ;)

On a side note, IIRC, in France, if you own the game, you are allowed to own a "private copy" of it. This is also true for other media, and is compensated by a tax on storage devices. So, ROM ownership *should* be legal there (I am not a lawyer), as well as games stripped from their DRM, as long as you own them.

Yeah, no kidding. That release calendar is ridiculous and we only have one more week of Septempber. You broke it down by month specifically because the page was getting too long?

Well not just long, but it makes more sense.

I went and read the whole piece, it was oddly interesting. I'm left with just one question: Who are these Factor 5 people?

Has anyone done any performance comparison between Dolphin in Windows and Dolphin in Linux? I know that there's a DX12 backend that gives a slew of frames for Windows 10 users, but I was curious how OpenGL currently performed against DX11 on the same hardware.
