Worms W.M.D [Official Site] is set to get an update around the end of October that will include multiplatform multiplayer for Linux, Mac and Windows. They also claim that GOG and Steam players should be able to play together then too.

Speaking on Steam they said this:
QuoteWe're aiming to get cross play between Windows, mac and Linux by the end of October but we'll be you up to date with how it's going if it can happen any sooner.

Also
QuoteSorry, I should have specified. As well as cross play between Windows, Mac and Linux within Steam, we're also aiming to add cross play between Steam and GoG at the same time. I'll keep you updated if there's going to be any delays, or if it can happen sooner.

I am looking forward to this, as the game is actually quite cool but for such a game cross-platform multiplayer is really needed. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Their message is rather unclear, they never sent the Linux version to GOG to begin with and should they provide one I will refuse to buy it unless they also offer the preorder pack for GOG Linux buyers.

I'll be honest, so far Team17 have treated GOG users like shit. Even when they released Superfrog HD there was no Linux release either....and then some devs wonder why GOG sales are low, it's the devs own fault for being lazy.

Excuse me for ranting, had to take off what I had on my chest for Team17.

Wonderful, I have eyed this game up of course nowadays I really go for the console experience - so Cross Platform, Controller Support, Cloud Sync, and Local Multiplayer are a big deal for me.

I think it's time I add it back to my wish list after purging all wish list items.

GOG sales are low not only because of that reason , there a lot more reasons in my opinion.
Well GOG is against all other game retailer shops because of its Uniqueness only DRM FREE

for example I have never bought something from GOG for the obvious reasons :

1. I hate to manually update my games so I prefer steam auto updates of every game I own
(imagine to have 1000 games and every update to manual install it?... no way!)
2. Is easier and sometimes cheaper to get games with a steam key
3. Some games are not available on GOG so steam is the only choice
4. I Prefer to get games through humble because they are offering both DRM Free and Steam Versions so is like 2 in 1.
5. GOG Games doesnt come with steam keys

Well there are a lot of other reasons but these are the main reasons for me, I would prefer GOG to offer both DRM Free and steam keys in the future but I dont think that will ever happen.

The only thing that bothers me about pre order games is the games that have pre-order bonus and are released on windows at launch and later on Linux with no preorder bonus.

Hopefully their Galaxy client will fix this issue for us all.

when they actually manage to make a Linux version of it...

For non English users, in steam, don't forget to edit command parameters and put :
LANG=C %command%

Otherwise the game does not work correctly, crashes, artifacts and so on...
