For fans of oldschool Duke Nukem on Linux, sadly you're now out of luck. Gearbox took over the rights to Duke Nukem and Devolver's deal for Duke Nukem 3D Megaton Edition has ended, so essentially Duke Nukem 3D Megaton Edition is no more and there is no Linux support for the new Gearbox-published edition.
It's nice that previous owners of Duke Nukem 3D Megaton Edition get to keep their copy (as they bloody well should!), but now anyone on Linux wanting old school Duke Nukem (that don't own it already) are a bit out of luck.
Here's Devolver's statement on it:

I have 3D Atomic edition on GOG. And it's indeed gone now from the store for those who don't have it. Why can't Gearbox play nice and keep it in stores? Devolver should have kept the rights. They are way better owners than Gearbox.

As someone who owns this game I'm glad I have it and there will be no effect, I can play eduke32 etc just fine.
Post 2000 duke series is trash anyways.

Wanted to post the same as wolfyrion, as the shitstorm over Gearbox was real :D
I own Megaton Edition on Steam, and Atomic Edition on GOG, so I am a lucky guy for now. I also bought the Anniversary Edition, as I really want to play the new levels, but I have my issues with this edition of the game. The normal game sound is already bad quality, but I assume the even dumbed that down. When compared to my native eduke32 version, where you can use a 44kHz sample rate for audio (the original in 1996 had 22kHz), the Anniversary Edition has worse sound than in 1996. Except for the "Duke Talk" which has been rerecorded with the original voice actor, but it feels so out of place. There is an option to resort to legacy Duke Talk, which sounds much better in my opinion. The also changed the Next Weapon/Previous Weapon system to be much slower then in the original, which is completely fucked up if you know the original. Things like freezing enemies from far away an finish them with a pistol shot and switching back is not possible with this. And my biggest issue, they changed the maps, e.g. E1L6 "The Abyss", has now one more secret area than in the original. And some of the sprites changed their appearance, for example the iconic six-pack aka big medikit. Oh, and it is not possible to bind mouse button 4 on onward, only left, right and middle. Come on Gearbox, when a hobby project like eduke gets this right, you certainly can also.
If I was not over the two hour mark for refund, this would be the first game ever I refunded, and this as a hardcore Duke Nukem fan. I am really disappointed by Gearbox.
P.S. And for those who asked, yes if you download Megation or Atomic Edition from GOG or Steam, you can copy out the game files (you only need the DUKE3D.grp) and play it with a source port like eduke32.

I own the Megatron Edition and I still can play this game with steam untill i uninstalled it from my hard drive. I first bought this game to play Duke Nukem with Eduke32 legally: you have a folder named "/Duke Nukem 3D/gameroot/classic" where are located the original game files. Does the new version "20th anniversary" give you the original files? Do you know if the files of this new version is compatible with Duke3D?

I've also got the Atomic Edition on GOG, but I've only played it for a few minutes. It was fun back in the day, but I think I'll leave it for when I've got absolutely nothing else to play.
