This has me way too excited to get back into Stellaris and will make it a much bigger and better game overall.

Will you be picking it up? I sure will be. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Any idea on the price? It sounds very interesting, but I doubt I could justify paying more than 10€ or so for it.

It looks like there are only three main features in the expansion:

1) Guardians
2) Enclaves
3) The War in Heaven

That seems a bit slight for a $10 expansion especially when compared to something like the similarly priced The Reaper's Due for Crusader Kings II which contains at least half-a-dozen significant changes to the overall experience. I'm hoping there's a lot more to the Leviathans than that, unless I'm greatly underestimating the impact those features will have on the game.

The War in Heaven sounds like it will significantly change the course of the game, though. And it also sounds kind of like it might not be the same war every time--like, there are a number of ancient races that are normally quiet, and any of them could start fighting.

There is also a huge patch coming out at the same time for all that own the game, besides the new DLC

Heinlein 1.3 - Full Patch Notes
Mountain Man Oct 18, 2016
Patch notes give more detail:

###################
# Leviathans Story Pack
###################

#Important
* NEW: Players can encounter powerful Guardians that guard secrets and treasures
* NEW: Enclave Stations can be encountered and exist in three different forms; Artisans, Curators and Traders.
* NEW: Trader Enclaves can trade minerals/ECs and sell strategic resources
* NEW: Artisan Enclaves can construct monuments and hold festivals on your planets
* NEW: Curators can sell star charts, aid you with your research and provide valuable insight into how to defeat certain Guardians
* NEW: 'War in Heaven' can be triggered between two Awakened Fallen Empires, resulting in a galaxy-scale war

#Graphics
* NEW: 5 new 'cuties' portrait: 2 Molluscoids, 1 Reptilian, 1 Anthropoid and 1 Fungoid.

#Music
* NEW: 5 new songs by Andreas Waldetoft, including a new main theme that will play if the story pack is installed and enabled.
That actually sounds like a pretty nice list of features. But you know what? I'd almost be willing to pay $10 for the 5 new songs alone! Stellaris has one of the best soundtracks I've ever heard in a game.
