The release of Mad Max [Steam, Feral Interactive] for Linux is fast approaching this week (20th!) and Feral have now updated their website with the minimum and recommended system specifications.
System requirements
Ubuntu 16.04 64-bit / SteamOS 2.0
Minimum
Intel i5 3.4 GHz or AMD FX8350 64-bit processor
8GB RAM
2GB Nvidia 660ti graphics card or better (driver version 367.35)
Recommended
Intel i7 64-bit 3.6 GHz processor
16GB RAM
4GB Nvidia 970 graphics card or better (driver version 367.35)
AMD & Intel GPU's are not currently supported. Since Mesa has made amazing progress this year, I am hoping it won't be too long before they can be pushed up to supported status. The most likely reasoning is that the current stable release of Mesa probably doesn't have high enough OpenGL version support.
How do you think your PC is going to handle Mad Max? Looks like the Recommended requirements are pretty high this time which is a sign that Feral is preparing us for a heavy game.
Will you be picking up a copy? I will hopefully do a livestream of the game once it has released, so keep an eye on our Twitch channel.
Some you may have missed, popular articles from the last month:
My i3 6100 seems to run on par with most i5 CPU, except if I'm compiling large programs but even then it's not that far off. Pretty sure it'll run this fine, it runs all the other ports very well.

Quoting: leillo1975Quoting: sarmadThis sounds like a bad port. The spec is much higher than the game seems to need.
Specs in Windows are also High
Minimum:
OS: 64 bit: Vista, Win 7, Win 8, Win 10
Processor: Intel Core i5-650, 3.2 GHz or AMD Phenom II X4 965, 3.4 Ghz
Memory: 6 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660ti (2 GB Memory or higher) or AMD Radeon HD 7870 (2 GB Memory or higher)
The Phenom II X4 965 is from 2009. It was a mid-range CPU in those days... the Phenom II X6 was THE high-end AMD CPU.
The Core i5-650 is from 2010...is less powerfull than a haswell core i3 4160 from 2014...
The only way to know if it is a good port is to play the game using the same hardware in both OS's...
Since I have two Pc's with two steam accounts(one with Ubuntu and other with Windows 7), I can do that.
I just need to play the game on the Windows 7 machine. After collect the game performance information, I have to unplug the Windows ssd, plug the Ubuntu SSD, boot, play and collect the information...

I'm all set, i'm on-par or above spec except for my CPU, which is i5 but has never been the bottleneck in any game i've played so far.
Mad Max is already in my lib, unfortunately it will not count as a linux sale (although it will only be played on linux), was included in a bundle.

Quoting: dubigrasuI don't get that Feral radar. The "Depth charge" thing is closer than Mad Max which is supposed to be released now.
Anyway no, I won't pick up a copy unless there'a a sale.
30 Euro is terribly expensive for me, sorry.
The game has already gone below $10 on a sale and I am very confident it will do so again on the Linux release (that's how Shadow of Mordor did too).

Puh, my system reaches recommended (Xeon E3 1231v3 roughly equivalent to a i7 4670, GTX 970, 16GB RAM), so I am set for this game. Just waiting for a sale, but that's ok, I'll have to finish Tomb Raider and Shadow Warrior first ;)

Ubuntu 16.04.1 64-bit
i7-4790 CPU @ 3.60GHz × 8
8 GB RAM
2GB Nvidia GTX 960 (driver version: 370.28)
I should be ok. Though had Feral given us an earlier heads-up, I would have probs ordered another 8 GB RAM and thrown it in in preparation for Mad Max. (Hmmm. I might do that this morning anyway --- OH! Or I could just take it out of my Win7 box. It's not being used for anything ...)
Otherwise I'm close enough to recommended to feel good.

You won't be able to compare directly to Windows FYI, the game does not have a benchmark mode and every single time you go somewhere it will have different weather, different things going on etc. Very hard to compare.

Given the fact that shady key stores do sell the game for 5 € I won't buy a one year old game for 30 €. Of course I want to support feral and make it count as a Linux Sale. Therfor I'll wait for the next Steam Sale to come. 50 % off would be totally fine. I'm willing to pay < 20 €. ;)
The game looks so awesome! It's hard to wait! :(
