Football Manager 2017 [Steam] is the latest in the line of FM games from Sports Interactive and SEGA and it supports Linux once again. The developers confirmed to me on twitter that Linux is included in the beta.
The game is due to release in about two weeks. Sadly, I will not be getting a review key for it, so I will not be publishing any thoughts on it.
About the game
Take control of your favourite football team in Football Manager 2017, the most realistic and immersive football management game to date. It’s the closest thing to doing the job for real!
With over 2,500 real clubs to manage and over 500,000 real footballers and staff to sign, Football Manager 2017 elevates you into a living, breathing world of football management with you at the centre.
If you pre-purchase it will also give you a free copy of "Football Manager Touch 2017".
Will you be buying it? Let me know in the comments!

I enjoyed previous incarnations of this franchise, but I simply don't have the time to play this, it devours time like a MMO does, only without the social side!
Great games though, and good to see they continue to be released on Linux; and that Beta access is included.

Why is this not available in Germany - too violent?
Edit: Ok, it looks like a licensing issue.

We don't need training - we're World Champion already. ;)

Yes, EA holds exclusive rights to german football names. So we germans have to import FM. At least that is no problem at all. Imported keys are completely legal in germany!
I would break the law for Football Manager anyway! :-)

Any word about system requirements?
EDIT: Forget me, please
In the Steam store web are the system requirements. Not very High (I see my brother smiling)

While I personally don't care in the slightest about this kind of sports game, it's still good to see this kind of thing. Whatever my personal taste, the things are pretty popular and I've had the impression that Linux coverage in that genre has been pretty slim pickings, so good news.

While personally I have no interest in this game (in fact, as a brit I have no interest in football as a whole (rugby/rally racing ftw).
I'm glad there is another game for Linux specially day one like this. I've seen a lot of SEGA games for Linux lately and I'm happy that SEGA as a company are willing/happy to port to Linux.
Now if only they would bring back the Master System running SteamOS...

I'd do vile things to have NHL Eastside Manager ported over to Linux.

Quoting: johndoe86xThis should be Soccer Manager :DNo no, it's Football Manager. It involves a foot and a ball.
You're probably mixing up with Handegg Manager which has never been released. :P

I put 85 hours into the last "Touch" - the less intensive, cheaper version of the full game. I actually just played the demo last time until Touch was on sale. I'll probably pick it up when it's on sale again, the only problem being I have no where near that much free time any more!
