Our user statistics page has been updated again, and it should now happen at the end of every month automatically.

Here we can see that Ubuntu, is clearly the most popular Linux distribution amongst our Linux gaming visitors, with Arch coming in second place again (out of 1645 users):

This time, as requested, I added in a gamepad selector along with the graph to go with it, which clearly shows right now the "Steam Controller" being the most popular. I imagine that will change with more people inputting their preference, as we only had 271 people answer it so far:

What I am most surprised about, is out of 924 users, KDE Plasma is the most popular desktop environment. I never seem to be able to personally get along with it, but it's cool to see how popular it is:

As always, if you have suggestions on how to make it all more interesting, fire away in the comments. I want to make the page useful, and it has grown quite a bit since the initial release of it.

What I would like feedback on, is how often to remind users to make sure their details are up to date, and what the preferred method would be? Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

I tried to get into KDE once with Mint 18, ended up wiping everything and went back to Mate. KDE itself is nice, very customizable and usable but Mate feels lighter and faster.

No wonder why KDE plasma 5 is doing so well since their fifth version, it's the closer than we have to a serious DE on linux.
But Im surprised than the xbox 360 controller isnt leading, thats unexpected. Overall, Im on the average on most of the charts. Its always cool to see than almost nobody use 32 bits anymore, its 2016 after all.

What is a typical use case for "Windows manager only"?

Tiling window managers, like i3, awesome, bspwm, or xmonad if you're a sadist.

I wish the PS4 controller was higher up, it's a really good controller. And I despise the Microsoft one (I still remember that original Xbox one, holy shit was that bad).

Someone who just uses a standalone window-manager, like openbox, i3, or dwm, and not a fully-fledged desktop environment. They're particularly popular on Arch (though I can only find a poll from 2013, where 144 people used tiling WMs, 55 used floating WMs, and 67 used DEs; current preferences may be different).

Probably a whole bunch of users who forgot to mention they're on Unity or Gnome, since we've got 1645 users who answered what distro they use, but only 924 specified which DE they use.

I migrated back to Plasma after getting away from it since the earlier Plasma 5 releases were insanely unstable. It's always been my favorite DE, feels the most polished.

Whenever I read about DE's I always hear "lightweight" mentioned like it's something great.

I use KDE Plasma because I have a powerful desktop machine I've built and want a "heavyweight" DE to match.

I love how much depth KDE Plasma has... you can customise everything.

Currently running Debian Jessie (Plasma 4) on one SSD and KDE Neon (Plasma 5.8 LTS) on another.
