Good news Croteam and Serious Sam fans, as 'Serious Sam VR: The Last Hope' [Steam, Official Site] will come to Linux as soon as it's possible to do so.

From the Steam forum post:
QuoteYes, seen that demo. We will be supporting SteamVR on Linux via Vulkan as soon as it becomes available.

Really great news, and awesome to see Croteam be so willing to throw their games at Linux. Games like this make me much more tempted to get a VR headset than all these tech demos we've seen.

About the game
Have you ever wondered what it's really like to be Serious Sam? Have you ever wanted to fight Mental's alien hordes with your own two hands? Well, now you can! Step into the shoes of the Earth Defense Force's greatest hero in this unique VR simulation based on Sam Stone's own log files from his time as captain of the Battlecruiser Saratoga. Experience the missions that turned Captain Stone into the legend that he is today. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Quoting: Iperpidothere are way better games on the Vive.

What are the best Vive titles, in your opinion? It'd be interesting to probe for the possibility for a Linux version, when our platform is ready.

The various, older Serious Sam games including Serious Sam 3 BFE (runs native on Linux) are now on sale on Steam.

There definitely are some better games on the Vive but there are also tons of wave shooters and this one seems like a one that stands out among those. There's also tons of crap on the Vive so I'm willing to bet this is still in at least something like the top 10% unless you really happen to dislike/have grown extremely bored of wave shooters.

I grew bored of rail/wave shooters in the first ten minutes of Operation Wolf on the C-64. :/ Since then they've all been basically the same, just a bit prettier.

I'm still on the fence with Vr and will wait it out. Most of the experiences are either short, shallow, or too restricted. I hope I see the day in the next 10-20 years where we can move around in, say an auditorium size area and do this.

The problem of natural movement is hard to crack, and I personally can't see any real solution to this short of hypothetical Neuromancer-style direct brain interfaces. But it's all the lesser problems that make VR unappealing to me at this point. I'm sure it'll get there some day, but that's still a few years off.
