Put the pitchforks down and stop flipping tables, as it seems Shadow Warrior 2 [Official Site] should still be coming to Linux.

Previously we mentioned that a developer at Flying Wild Hog said "Linux version - no, I don't think so.", but we now have a different answer:
QuotePaweł is our level designer and didn't know about our target platforms.

And then:
QuoteOh, it's just a standard issue when people without PR training (like me or Paweł) answer questions. We try very hard to be helpful and answer everything even if we don't the answer. After first s....storm we learn to not to answer questions for which we don't have an answer :).

That reply is from the same person who originally said that Linux wouldn't be a day-1 release due to a decision from the publisher. The publisher denied it and then that post was deleted.

I get that some people may not be entirely aware of Linux, but developers need to be a bit more careful when giving answers. It does still surprise me that people "without PR training" seem to be so confused about Linux. It's okay to say you don't know. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

This was a sophisticated PR campaign to come into the news...!
No, it wasn't. Just some guys doing the best they can.
Glad to see the news was wrong.
The game looks like it might be some guilty pleasure. :)

Sometime there is more drama and suspense in a forthcoming Linux release then in all the 7000 episodes of "the Bold & the Beautiful"..

Colour me not surprised. And excited. I may use this weekend to finally play through the first (well, the remake) one. I only played for about an hour when I first got it.

That's good to hear. Thanks for the update.

Well, honestly I expected it to be something of that nature, although it´s nice to have it confirmed. Now all we need to wait for is actual confirmation that there *IS* a version for linux that people are actively working on, and all will feel much better. ;-)

Currently "Shadow warrior 2" is reviewed as "Overwhelmingly Positive" on Steam, with 1,124 positive reviews and 40 negative, so it sounds pretty much like a "Must Have"-title.

Game level designers are not the sort of people to get platform news from, Liam.

You need engine devs for that. Or porters. Admittedly, some companies have no idea what they are actually doing. If only there was a way to specify a linux contact person...

Strange that they would answer if they aren't sure. I guess everyone wants to make themselves sound important and in the know, but ultimately it's not a good look for a company.

Anyway, I'm mighty eager for this game to come to GNU/Linux. Shadow Warrior (2013) was a blast. Unfortunately I already finished it under Wine before the port was released, but AFAIK SW2 doesn't work under Wine so I never picked it up. But a GNU/Linux port? I'll almost certainly be buying it as soon as it's out.
