If you're a bit low on funds, you might like to know that Steam is doing a 2016 Halloween sale with some nice Linux games on offer.

Here's some choice picks for you:
7 Days to Die - 60% off
System Shock 2 - 75% off
Oxenfree - 75% off (I've been told this is really good, so I just picked up a copy)
Layers of Fear - 50% off
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II - 75% off
Mad Max - 50% off
Shadow of Mordor - 50% off
Company of Heroes 2 - 75% off
Black Mesa - 60% (only just came to Linux!)

There's plenty more, but those are some of what I think are the best deals going. Quite amazing that Mad Max is already 50% off and it has only recently come to Linux. Here's a chance for people on the fence to pick the game up cheaper, while still supporting Feral and Linux gaming directly from Steam.

I've been told great things about Oxenfree, so I've personally purchased it and I'm excited to finally give it a go, it's been on my list for ages. I've also picked up Black Mesa now it's on Linux.

What have you picked up? I do love a good sale. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Expected Life is Strange to be on sale, disappointed that it isn't. No other game I want is on significant sale either. I should really pick up Metro Redux games, but I won't be able to play them before I buy a new computer anyway, so there is no rush.

I've played both Metro games and Life is Strange. If your hardware isn't good enough for the Metro games, it definitely isn't good enough for Life is Strange. Both Metro Redux games performed very well on my GTX 860M, but Life is Strange I had to turn all of the settings to low in order to play it at a decent framerate. Hope that helps :)

Well,

Painkiller Complete Pack - 90% off

It looks like that is the only Painkiller pack which includes all DLCs for Hell and Damnation. It looks like I will be killing hordes of enemies this week after beating Black Mesa. ;-)

Woot! Black Mesa!

Damnit! Just bought 11 games on Steam (10 for Linux, 1 for the Vive) then I read 'Black Mesa!' and thought "Crap, forgot that one.. then bought more.. spending about 120 bucks...

Still need to win Mad Max!

It's not Halloween-related, but I'm buying the three "Let's Explore" games for my kids since it's $2.99 for all three. That's 80% off the normal bundle, or 86% off buying them individually.

They run on Linux "natively" (the Steam version uses ScummVM) and they run very well. These games are kids exploration/learning games with lots of silly environment interactions. I'd estimate that they're good for ages 3-8.

I recently came across the old CD version of Let's Explore the Airport, got it running in ScummVM and my kids love it. I was planning on just getting the other two, but right now it's cheaper to buy all three on Steam than to buy only two.

Edit: They also run well in the Android version of ScummVM. These old point and click games work well on tablets.

I do remindber this studio when i was a kid... Maybe this package could interest some of us : http://store.steampowered.com/sub/42723/

Bought Warhammer 2 (3 expansions)
http://store.steampowered.com/sub/44367/

Bought Black Mesa
http://store.steampowered.com/app/362890/

I am somewhat interested in Max Max but TBH I'm not sure if I'm the target audience, the driving looks fun and it looks like what Final Fantasy XV was supposed to be, except actually cool, I just dunno - it looks like Borderlands 3 to me.

As it is I got a gigantic backlog but how can I turn down a good sale?

I hope Warhammer 2 is a better StarCraft 2 but for Linux, we'll see - DLing now.

Well... Feral gets nothing for their Linux budget if you buy from such sites... Why do you guys embrace these kinds of practices and support people who don't support linux gaming! Either buy them from Feral Store for Linux or Steam for Linux because that's the only way that Feral gets rewarded for bringing games to Linux. If you don't want to spend so much wait for the sales on Feral store and Steam. Otherwise you're just supporting Windows gaming.

My store page is properly filtering Linux-only titles ever since adding it to preferences. I wonder why it doesn't work for so many other people.

Oh, that's new. Did it, mostly works. I don't mind having a few (like in "minority") Windows-only titles appearing in the "Now Available/Recommended for you"-Box, but if it's all of them -- like this morning, before setting that preference -- it's just a nuisance.

Because on the site they have an option for the mac version and the developer of this version is Feral Interactive Limited.

But I think that Feral's budget is still split between Mac and Linux :) and if it counts as a Mac sale they keep bringing more titles to Mac instead of Linux because it makes them more money :) Let's support them as much as we can!

For anyone who don't owe, my recommendations that were not listed in this thread so far:
- Cities: Skylines
- Don't Starve

I would love to get Life is Strange on sale as well, but as it was already written in this thread - please buy Linux games only if you're 100% that you count as Linux sale.
It means - buy the game either directly from Feral store or from Steam. Never buy it from re-sellers, because they always have Windows keys. And very often they obtain keys in some illegal way. Liam covered the topic Some time ago here. G2A made some progress, but re-sellers in general is not something that makes the industry healthy. In general it is almost paying for piracy, because very often developers do not earn the money at all...

Regarding hardware too weak to play Metro but able to play Life is Strange - @morbius is right - I have the same situation as he does. Having [email protected], 10GB RAM, GeForce GT 540M = I'm able to play episode 1 of Life is Strange on low with decent frame rate. Because Metro is fast fps game similar frame rate is not enough. So the game is not playable.

Bought so far:
Black Mesa -60%
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II - Grand Master Collection -75%

Don't forget to use enhanced steam to see where you can buy the game the cheapest currently. For example: mad max is currently only 6.79 on greenmangaming.

About buying only a key "when you are absolutely sure it counts as linux". Its just useless to pay more for a game only to promote linux. The percentage of linux games that actually pay attention to this way of buying is way to low to be significant. Just buy the cheapest key you can get and let valve do their own counting, currently their counting system is broken, i'm not going to pay more for that.

The smaller the amount of people, the more significant is your part.

If you don't care for it, ok. But other people do care - and you might benefit from their caring. You shouldn't try to persuade them not to, even if it might make you feel better.

If everyone was thinking like you we would be forgoten already... one of the reasons why developers still produce linux games is a lot of times it's not even worth to them but they know that we are humans too and we like to play games as well so they don't want to be discriminating, and as a thanks we can try and be good to them as they are good to us, otherwise we can go back in 2010 where there were almost literally no AAA games for linux.

How have I never heard of The Swapper?! That looks awesome! Thanks for the heads up.. buying it now.

Two ways of discovering good games are Steam's lists by "relevance" and by reviews. Both to be taken with grains of salt, obviously, but the second one lists The Swapper on page 2:
http://store.steampowered.com/search/?os=linux
http://store.steampowered.com/search/?sort_by=Reviews_DESC&os=linux

PS: I got it through a Humble Bundle.
