Thanks to everyone who is already funding, I have been able to put out more interesting stuff than I ever could be before. Here's a small reminder that I rely on you guys to keep GOL going!
The Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/liamdawe
I'm already amazed at the level of support I have and I hope more decide to support me in future too.
I provide HTTPS for free by default for everyone (as it should be), all features are generally available to everyone (apart from the dark theme), the ability to set how many comments you see per-page, the release calendar and so on.
I am also committed to never hiding any content behind a paywall, that will simply never happen here.
Without your help, GOL would simply not be here. Thanks to you guys we now have a pretty damn good server with people at hand to fix server-side issues, allowing me more time to just get stuff done.
One thing my Patreon supporters have asked of me is to do more interviews, so I am working on that. I already published one today with the developer of Tether. I have another one pretty much ready and an interview with Feral will be hopefully coming soon too. I am hoping to line up at the very least one interview every single month from now on.
What I don't want to do is remind people about Patreon all the time (I just want to get on with it and do it), as I know it can be annoying. I haven't put out an article asking for support since March and won't do again for some time.
Also a sidenote: When people decide to stop funding, they can enter a comment to explain why. I am never able to see who it's from, and it's entirely optional but one caught my eye:
I actually found that quite interesting! So I wrote a script which you can now find here to see who has done what (along with other fun info). Hopefully that gives a clear idea of my commitment here.
To be clear on this one: anyone who contributes to GOL does so out of their own free time because they want to. They do get the offer of free keys when I have them too. I am extremely appreciative of anyone who contributes anything, be it articles or funding.
Thank you for your support and keep buying awesome Linux games!

Quoting: BlackBloodRumHey Liam,Thanks, I am keeping an eye on it for when the current one runs out :)
You might want to check this out:

I use this on several servers and enables me to add SSL to all my projects for free :-D.
Just sayin' you could save some money regarding the SSL ;).

Fair enough :-).
When the time comes if you need help setting it up feel free to shoot me a PM and I'll help you out, first time setting it up can be a bit daunting ;).
Luckily, once it is set up however you can configure a cronjob which will check the certificate if it needs renewal and then automatically renew it without you having to do anything at all :-).
So for a single website, it's quite literally set up once and forget.

Quoting: GuestI want to pay. I really, really want to pay. But you see I'm committed to not paying for Windows/wine/eOn games (...). And so I'm conflicted about paying for a site that so supportive of them.Reporting news on a specific technology does not equate to supporting or encouraging it. If some developer makes a game run on Linux using Wine or eON, I sure do want to know about it. Even if I may choose not to buy it.

I am not currently able to support, but I will certainly as soon as I get a pay rise or otherwise gets more financially secure. I have been thinking about an article on Quadrilateral Cowboy's narrative style (I loved that game, and I do not think it gets enough coverage that I see), I will contribute it here if I ever get around to it. As someone said, I have never found a linux gaming site that has held anywhere near this quality and flow of articles, GoL and Rock Paper Shotgun are the only two gaming sites I visit at all, rest is garbage often.
I had essentially given up gaming (which was too bad since it is very important to me) since going over to GNU/Linux for other reasons, GoL has helped me get back into it!

5€ a month feels too much for the content of the website, i would pay 1€ or 2€, without premium, only to support "somehow", like i support other websites like general news (not video game related, i mean world news) and other topics.

You also have my bow, my axe and all that stuff now! :'D

No worries at all, if you don't think it's worth it then feel free to continue to read for free. Part of the point of Patreon is so that not everyone has to do it at all, but thanks to the people that do we have no annoying adverts and never will. We will never time-lock articles for certain groups of people either thanks to it.
If there's things I can do to make you think it may be worth it, by all means let me know :)

I will have to look at donating at somepoint, but family comes first especially around Christmas (bloody expensive time of year) so it may have to wait til the new year.
However; If I may put a comment across regarding the site, my only concern with donating is the content of the twitter feed. I personally agree with your political leanings and share your concerns about privacy etc. However I feel that perhaps these comments are more suited to personal twitter accounts rather than the one associated directly with the site.

I know all too well how expensive this time of year is, multiple birthdays to deal with!

If only Twitter had a way to filter to only our tweets so people who weren't interested in retweets could do so, that would be sweet.
