It was only in September that Linux hit about 2,500 games on Steam and around a month later we've amassed another 200+, so if this keeps up it looks like we will break another milestone.
We currently have, according to Steam, 2,715 games on Linux, but we do need to make allowances for Steam's rubbish filtering system which ends up showing a few that have yet to release. Still, this is amazing progress to amass nearly 3,000 games that support Linux.
Steam for Linux was officially released on 14 Feb, 2013 with little over 50 titles for us, and when you take into consideration that a little over three years ago that number was a big fat zero, it's brilliant steady progress for us.
I know that the overall number can feel meaningless (something I see people say often when this comes up) when you see a bunch of poorly received titles come to Linux, but the vast majority of games are actually quite good. I have 748 games in total in my personal Steam account that support Linux (out of 856 total), 99% of them are really great. I would have a lot more, if I had the time. I genuinely do stare at my Steam library often not knowing what to play, as the amount of choices can be overwhelming.
What we truly need are more high quality day-1 releases to really help push the platform further. That has been happening more and more, so hopefully that trend will also continue.

I think we do not have any problem with having a lot of games: No one never ever can play so many games. Still we have a lack of high quality games in comparison to Windows. I don't necessarily mean AAA titles - but in general.

It's good to know that. Now we really need more day-1 releases. I hope that this amount of games released for Linux will help us increase marketshare, and this way, we will have more games with more quality.

I personally miss JRPGs and Sim JRPGs on SteamOS. I think that quantity is a good thing, but more diversity is what Linux is really in need now.

I ask because THAT is MY standard for a BIG game: When You have to read subtitles, it ruins the inmersion in the gameplay...
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided (not a day1 Linux version, but just two months delayed) and The Talos Principle indeed fits in that category.
About Xcom 2. Is not my kind of game (I don't like turn based strategy; I prefer a mix between strategy and FPS, like Brothers
in Arms, but that saga wasn't ported to Linux)
SOMA (purchased on GOG and on my Steam Linux account), sadly doesn't have multi-language voiceover, so, for me, is a not true AAA.. For me, is another Indie game, but with a little bit more budget than Amnesia and Penumbra.
I will buy Deus Ex: Mankind Divided in this christmas sales for my Steam Linux account, just because the Linux version is not infected by Denuvo...
To bad that this game is infected with Steam. If They release it on GOG, I would pay full price for it.

I dont like to be a second-class gaming citizen... That's why I have two machines, one with Linux Ubuntu (because I like the platform) and other with a legit Windows 7 (because I need the platform).
To release a Linux version of a game one year or more after the Windows release is a lack of respect... Is now or never.

I know You were joking, but actually, that is what the gaming on Linux needs; a good AAA Linux exclusive game that forces the windows gamers to make a partition and install linux just for to play that game... And for that We need a Linuxian millonaire.. Or start our own Dev company via crowdfunding.

Square Enix is porting their games to Linux, maybe we'll get Final Fantasy at some point.
Anyway the best place to play JRPG is still consoles and I don't see it changing soon.

Mine are generally bestest. Period. But anyway: What's the point of ranting on GoL that Linux games lack this and this and this and that (and therefore Il Comandante has to use his trusty Windows) - we are all perfectly aware of the (less and less) shortcomings Linux gamers are confronted with. So in this context I think he/she qualifies as troll.
