BUTCHER [Steam, GOG, itch.io, Official Site], the gory and totally brutal 2D shooter that's really quite good has a free DLC which enables an easy mode.

I tried it out before release and I did enjoy it, but it really is quite difficult. This might enable me to enjoy it some more. Not everyone wants super difficulty, someone people just want to blast people away with a little challenge that doesn't require endless restarts.

It's certainly worth a try if you like gory 2D shooters.

About the game
BUTCHER is a fast-paced 2D shooter and a blood-soaked love letter to the cult classics of the genre. As a cyborg programmed to eradicate the last remains of humanity, your sole purpose is to well... annihilate anything that moves.

So grab your weapon of choice (from chainsaw, through shotgun, to grenade launcher) and kill your way through underground hideouts, post-apocalyptic cities, jungles and more. And if you're feeling creative, there are plenty other ways of ending your enemies' misery - hooks, lava pits, saws... no death will ever be the same.

If kicking corpses into a lava pit and adorning walls with blood is your idea of a good time, BUTCHER is THE game for you. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Oh, that's great! I bought it a while ago, but haven't gotten around to playing it yet, fearing the difficulty; no more! :D

EDIT: Has anyone gotten it to work? I'm not seeing any new difficulty modes after installing the DLC.

EDIT 2: It required a restart of Steam to be applied, in case anyone stumbles on the same issue.

I wish more games did this. I don't mind insanely difficult games being available as an option, just not the only option. (I'd also like to see more rogue-like/light games get over themselves and offer alternative save/checkpoint systems.

And a magic pony that shits gold nugget.

And World Peace, while I'm wishing for things.)

;D
