A bunch of Linux gamers who do Youtube videos came together to make a video of our top choices this year.

Myself and Samsai did two small videos to represent GOL and were included along with others from the wider community. It's a pretty nice idea thought up by well-known Linux Youtuber Jakejw93.

I picked Devil Daggers, as all the obvious choices were already taken, but I still firmly believe that DD is a truly great simplistic FPS and it has stolen way more time from me than I thought it would.

Feel free to share some of your top games of 2016 in the comments. Our official 2016 GOTY award will start accepting games in the next few days. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Shadow Tactics gets my nod for Linux game of the year. Honorable mentions: Enter the Gungeon & Mad Max.

My personal game of the year is Tomb Raider. The game itself is fantastic in terms of playability, graphics, and audio, and the port is also good, no glitches, works well with dual monitors, Steam Controller is configured correctly. It's a console experience on Linux with better aiming precision. Well done, Feral & Crystal Dynamics.

Nice video! :)

I like that you all worked together to create this.
It adds variation and really gives it that community feel.

(If GOL has this functionality, maybe sticky the article for a while? I see four other articles already pushed this one down.)

My favorite game of 2016 - The Dwarves.

Well thanks for the video. But I would appreciate having more freedom within videos or just to say in content generally speaking. Perhaps with usage of MediaGoblin, Mediadrop or even Plumi? Talking about freedom is one thought, being free from such monopols like YouTube is another. ;)

I agree with this, and host my own MediaGoblin install for photos I want to share. Unfortunately my ADSL2+ uplink is too slow for video, so I dump video content on YouTube and encourage the use of youtube-dl to get at it.

Lots of great games this year. What a time to be a linux gamer!

Looking at total hours, my number one goes to Salt and Sanctuary. "SoulsVania" doesn't really do it justice but hey, why not?

Honourable mention: Hyperlight Drifter.

If it had been released in 2016, I could have voted for the Talos Principle. I did only play it this year :-)

That's cool that someone (HexDSL) mentioned Refunct! It's a very short but pleasant game (and a cheap one)! :)

I'm with @Keyrock for the GOTY2016: Shadow Tactics definitively! :)

Video hosting requires heavy resources, it would murder our bandwith and probably increase site load quite a lot.

Then you have to get the rights from everyone included to host it and on top of that, it opens up me specifically to copyright issues.
