The classic strategy game Seven Kingdoms: Ancient Adversaries [Official Site] was updated this year to include a few nifty features.
This game has a special place in my heart, as I remember buying it as a young lad and being absolutely in love with it. In 2009, the original developer released the source code and it is still updated.
In the latest update:
- Added support for 7kfans.com match-making.
- Added LAN game browsing support.
- Added Mobilize Worker button on firms. (sraboy/Microvirus)
- Improvements to mouse acceleration.
- Fixes to mouse movement in fullscreen mode.
- Fixed a bug with 64-bit multiplayer matches.
- Begun translation work. (toaster)
- Fix character encoding with accented characters. (MicroVirus)
- Bugfixes…
I compiled the latest version and tested it and it still works beautifully. It's so amazing to see old games like this still worked on.

This is grand news. I too bought the game in the 80s (!) and will say that it's worth buying on GOG so you can get the manual.

Developers: If you've got a game that just doesn't sell anymore, open-sourcing it is the only way to go. There's no downside.

The 80's? Isn't the game from 97? Remember playing it as a demo I got on a PC-gamer CD.

While I agree, one potential downside is that people may make your old title so awesome everyone will want to play it and not your newly released shiny product.
