Darkest Dungeon [Official Site, Steam] is a hard and long game, but thankfully the developers know what to do about it. They are planning to add in a shorter game mode for you.

They also recently added in gamepad support, but it's limited to showing Playstation button glyphs right now. They plan to add more to it in future updates.

An average playthrough of Darkest Dungeon takes apparently 80 hours, but this new mode called "RADIANT" will cut it in half. It will be an optional mode of course, so they aren't changing the entire game. It's for those of us with a little less free time and to help prevent players getting burnt out by the current length.

They are also planning their first DLC named "Crimson Court" which comes sometime early next year.

See the full details on all that's coming to the game at this blog post.

About the game
Darkest Dungeon is a challenging gothic roguelike turn-based RPG about the psychological stresses of adventuring.

Recruit, train, and lead a team of flawed heroes through twisted forests, forgotten warrens, ruined crypts, and beyond. You'll battle not only unimaginable foes, but stress, famine, disease, and the ever-encroaching dark. Uncover strange mysteries, and pit the heroes against an array of fearsome monsters with an innovative strategic turn-based combat system.

It's 50% off on Steam right now and it's a pretty good game, so go grab it if you haven't already. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Picked this game yesterday, have yet to install it (hopefully also runs on low end computers). For DRM-Free gamers, the game is also at 50% GOG too.

Thanks for the news Liam, will keep my eye on the DLC :-)

It's a great game (bought it on sale), and it certainly is hard :'( . And roguelike.

hope the update hits GoG soon - and I hope they fixed some of the crashes on Linux. On my end after one of the versions the game become pretty bad - I got repeatable crashes in the same spots and the devs were not really responsive (probably too much on their heads rather than any form of "wrongdoing" on their behalf). Shame as I can't recommend DD at this point to anyone, even though I think the game itself is great.

That sucks. I never had any crashes thankfully, but yeah, if you visit their official forum it's pretty clear that they are a little over their heads. It's a very small team and I don't think that they expected the success they found.

As far as the game goes, I adored it right up until I hit the final dungeon and lost all of my best guys. The prospect of starting over was too daunting.

it really is a fantastic game, huge strategic depth - check it out if you haven't already... a lack of good hotkeys/controller support was one of my only complaints.
