If you have purchased anything from Games Republic, you may want to ensure you have grabbed all your keys as they are shutting down.
They didn't give a reason, but they announced they have already disabled game purchases.
From their announcement:
I think they had a nice store, but competition is pretty high with Steam, GOG, itch.io and many more so it's a pretty hard business to make your mark in.

Whaa…? I just registered an account there two weeks ago. That's not fair!

A bit sad to see Games Republic close shop, but not very surprising. It felt like a very generic store with a pretty weak unique selling point in the user curated stores. Very small library of games, even more so when it came to Linux games, and the same prices as everyone else on indies and AAA games. I don't think they ever gave me a reason to shop there instead of Humble Store (Steam + DRM-free + charity), GOG (DRM-free), Steam (convenience) or Itch (the weird indie stuff).
Maybe the lesson here is that if you don't offer anything special people might take their shopping elsewhere.

I believe this is the reason, people could buy Civ VI heavily reduced. But due to it being in error - it was supposed to be 10% and not 80%, the shop took the hit.
One can only imagine how just how many people took advantage of this deal as it was on reddit.

They canceled all the orders for Civ VI and those who bought it got the game removed from their Steam accounts and a refund, at least according to later posts in that reddit thread. Sure it must have cost a bit to issue refunds but not enough to have to close the store unless they were hanging on a thread already.

I took a chance on them a few months ago because they had a good deal, and I was assured that the keys were legit. They gave me two of their own games for free as a bonus -- both of which are completely broken on Linux and which they have refused to fix despite knowing about these problems for some time. I didn't think much of them after that, so I'm not particularly surprised to see them close up shop.

Such a shame, I have bought a few titles over the year from them when the price was competitive, mainly to support GOL.

Sad to see them go but I never bought anything from them. Like others have said they didn't stand out. For DRM free games I have itch and GOG. For DRM games I have Feral store and Steam.
