Interstellar Marines [Steam] was once an incredibly promising FPS game with nice visuals and interesting gameplay. Sadly, their money pretty much vanished, but it's pleasing to see it still being developed.
The lead developer and last remaining member of Zero Point Software now has a part-time job which manages to pay the bills, so he can continue working on the game.
The main focus of this patch was to fix Unity issues and work on their major online mode called "Wargames". They added a new mission into Wargames, along with tons of fixes and additional features. Sadly I can't test it out, as Wargames are time-limited and you can only get into it at specific times. This kills it for me, as the community is tiny and the current major feature of the game is so limited. I have no idea when I can next join a Wargame, as the timer for the only server says -14 hours and the time is getting further away, which makes no sense.
I am hoping a publisher does agree to help him out, as it does still show a lot of promise. I would really like it to focus on the single-player and co-op play like it did originally, rather than their online modes. The atmosphere in the co-op was rather good, and it was a major draw for me.

I was excited about Interstellar Marines long time ago. Unfortunately it went nowhere, and there still does not appear to be any plan or direction as to what this game is supposed to be or how to get there. Which is damn sad...

I played this in co-op with a friend a couple years ago during a free-weekend promo. In the beginning we enjoyed ourselves immensely. The AI was challenging; the visuals were impressive; the animations were spot-on. But after an hour of play our enjoyment began to wear thin, and after two hours it had simply worn out. Though technically solid, the game lacked imagination --- it was all MARINE and no INTERSTELLAR.
There were two available weapons (the only two available weapons) --- a generic assault rifle and an smg. --- could have been plucked from almost any FPS that featured modern weapons. All the maps were little more than re-arrangements of the same pieces: plants, fiery bits, and buildings that looked the same in all but configuration and size. Maybe there were some glowing blue plants or weird flowers, I honestly don't remember. What I do remember is all the exterior maps were variations on the theme "generic tropical setting", hardly more otherworldly (let alone "interstellar" than the set of Gilligan's Island, except the huts were bigger and made of identical, pre-fabricated, metal panels.
If I'm going to be an Interstellar Marine, I expect to see interstellar things: wall-climbing, acid-spitting xenomorphs; runaway war-mechs; alien weapons shooting deadly colored lights; alien ruins; exploding tribbles --- anything. But there was none of that. The closest it got was the same model of android fighting us on every map.
I wanted to like IM. I still do. It breaks my heart to see devs as inspired as Zero Point software floundering, but until they (now he) finds ways to inspire the player, the game will go nowhere.

Yeah I pretty much think the same, needs to focus on its COOP Campaign that it originally was proposing. This attempt o become a FPS MMO game will not end well, that genre is just too saturated, but a coop campaign sci-fi shooter with on world and off world arching missions would be awesome.
Allot to ask from a single lone developer! I dunno if we'll ever see this title develop into anything great sadly.

I've been following this game for I think over 8 years now, and I agree, more co-op and single player are really needed. This game is super polished, but I think they've burnt way too much time on polish and need to stop focusing on that as much and start balancing their time out with a lot more content, then go back and polish those things up once they're done. I'm not saying not to polish those things a little, but just not quite as much.

I bought this game a long time ago, when was on pre-alpha... and I'm very disagree with the way that developers have taken. Their promises have fallen into emptiness and now cannot get more sales.
I am very dissapointed with this purchase. NO RECOMMENDABLE!
