Previously, Kingdom Come: Deliverance [Official Site, Kickstarter] had an update where the developers said they weren't aiming for a same-day release for Linux. Now, they said to me directly the Linux version may not happen at all.
I was sent an email by a GOL supporter, who shared the response he got from Warhorse Studios:
I then contacted them myself, and I spoke to a completely different person who gave a very similar answer:
I asked if they thought that made their Kickstarter update note poorly worded and they don't agree:
I will have to completely disagree there.
Essentially, the Linux version of Kingdom Come: Deliverance that was promised during the Kickstarter may not come to Linux at all.
This makes their wording in their Kickstarter update pretty poor. There's a big difference between no launch support and not being sure if you're even doing a Linux version any more.
If you funded it for a Linux version, go get a refund right now.

QuoteGreetings,
I can confirm that there won't be a Linux version on release date. I can confirm that we keep the Linux version in mind and would like to realize it in future, however we can't promise that this ever will happen.
Sincerely,
Tobias Stolz-Zwilling

QuoteNo I don't think that. It means exactly what I said.

Some you may have missed, popular articles from the last month:
Quoting: Comandante oardoQuoting: camocelticIt's gotten to the point where I've almost stopped caring for announcements of Linux ports from anyone that isn't Feral, Aspyr, or Ethan Lee because it's almost inevitable that the Linux port gets majorly delayed or canceled outright.
The Linux port of Batman Arkham Knight was made by Feral... and they, not Warner, cancelled the game.
We should keep in mind that the Windows port of Batman Arkham Knight is aweful at best. Feral probably couldn't bring the game to a decent performance level on Linux.
If you consider the usual performance hit that comes from converting DX to OGL... I would have made de same decision. Not going to blame Feral on this one.
For me it should be treated as the exception that proves the rule...
Edit: In a case like that, I like to refer to the maxim that says :
"Garbage in, garbage out." :)

Doesn't surprise me.
It joins the countless Kickstarter / Indie Games with Unreal- or CryEngine and somewhat decent graphics, that did promise Linux support and never did.
It's like a stereotype of game for that scenario.
Does it look like Witcher 3 in some form? -> It probably won't come out for Linux.

I told myself I would not pre-order , and I got burned again.
Oh well , hope my VM will work well.

Time for a refund then.
It's been long since I pre-ordered or kickstarted anything. I want to say thanks to all these companies for making me wise, with their shady practices and money grabbing tactics.

Yup. I'm getting real sick of how the publishers treat gamers these past years. I hope gamers get wise, and these publishers learn a hard lesson.

I'm happy at this point that i only have left Bards Tale and Torment. I have trust in both companies. But yeah there is too much shady business going on. Sadly at one point kickstarter was an option to show that we want games and are willing to support the devs. Thanks to this shady business it's now a place we avoid even there are still some companies around which realy are behind their goals.

QuoteHello Patrick,
Thank you for your email. We are very sorry that we were not able to keep our promise with a Linux version at release. This is not as it was planned as we have seen that this task is more complex in the development than we thought during the Kickstarter campaign. We are willing to give you a refund..

This was one of the last projects I crowdfunded before I stopped crowdfunding altogether. I'll be requesting a refund promptly. If it ever does come out for Linux I'll probably buy it... at 75% off on a Steam sale.
