Our user survey is now done automatically from your profiles every month. On the 1st of December a fresh lot was generated.
Reminder: Update your profile.
Our newest question about your primary gamepads/controllers has grown quite a bit over last month, with 231 more people answering the question compared to last month. With 502 total people answering that question now, the Steam Controller has the top share at 36% which is quite impressive.
Ubuntu and its spin-offs still remain king over all other distributions too, with them together taking a sweet 50.29%.
This is the most fun to see:
Out of 1263 people, only 2 are on 32bit.
Note: I noticed the graph numbers are getting cramped at higher levels of people, so I will be adjusting that to shorten it to "1k, 1.2K" or something like that.
It's also nice to see a healthy 68.24% of people do not dual-boot, which surprised me, but that's a damn healthy number to see.
You can view the full Linux gamer statistics at any time here.
If you have any feature suggestions, do let me know and I can add them to the list. I am focusing on a few other things before I get back to adjusting it some more.
I am still working out the best length of time to have data drop-off when it becomes stale. We do log the time and date people last updated their information, so it's easy to do when I think of a good time period for it.
I will also be working on an automatic reminder, that will appear on the site to ask you to update your details or to click if nothing has changed. That way, it will help with old data and keep it in your minds.

Some you may have missed, popular articles from the last month:
This article reminded me to change my controller status. I have 2 controllers, XBOX 360 and Steam Controller.
I prefer recently purchased XBOX 360. Much better feeling in games than steam controller. Works in Linux with no problem with adequate driver, but some steam games don't recognize it.

Quoting: liamdaweObviously, this is why data from people who haven't updated their profiles in a while won't be included.
Quoting: liamdaweThere is no info on that, as this has not been implemented yet. It's as simple as that. That's remind me Steam statistics. Make things blurrier as possible.
Why don't you just say that right now every users even zombie ones are counted and you don't know how to deal with them? it's simple, fast, comprehensive, factual and there is no shame in it.

QuoteTime until drop-off to be worked out yet
Edit: And to be clear, I do very well know how to deal with them and it's easy since we store the last date someone updated their information.
I don't get the attitude from you here, this is a bit of fun and a distraction for me away from posting articles all the time.

What happen with the people that use more than one computer?
Can You add that detail like You did with the monitors?

The worst part about "one-click confirm" is that you need a multi-click step to log in first. Many times I am discouraged from doing anything on this website (including writing a comment), because I have to click login, be taken to Steam's login page, put my credentials, get the authenticator code, put it in, wait for the page to be loaded back.
I'm permanently logged in to my Google account on my phone, which is a far riskier thing to do that to be permanently logged in to GOL on my PC. If you allow one to stay logged in for a long time, with the usual "Remember Me" checkbox or something (checkbox disable by default), that would definitely increase my activity here.

Quoting: NelSo I forgot to include that, it was a mistake. There is simply no need to give me attitude like this, seriously, chill out and stop being an ass.Quoting: liamdaweI'm not trying to hide anything, I said this rather openly only a few comments ago:Of course people have to ask and dig into comments to understand how things are working. liamdawe: Those graphs look quite bad. Care to improve them or allow someone to tweak with them? If you are interested, this is nice blog about data visualization: http://www.darkhorseanalytics.com/blog/

Steam login is an extra.

Quoting: liamdaweObviously, this is why data from people who haven't updated their profiles in a while won't be included.I had not updated my profile for some months but I only changed the OS. I think it's a wise idea to put a restriction, however maybe there is nothing to update next time. I probably will be using the same data for some months, but I wouldn't want to be out of the survey (however I did think the old one was very boring and extensive, I'm glad this is now automatic).
