Right now on Steam you can get some really insane deals, so I've picked out a bunch for cash-strapped Linux gamers.
If you forgot to make plans to celebrate new year, never fear, as I am here to point out some awesome games you could be playing.
I have hand-picked some games that are not only good, but dirt cheap too. All listed games are available for under £4.
Note: These are just a few choice picks, there's obviously tons more available.
* Besiege - 30% off
* Metro 2033 Redux - 80% off
* Metro: Last Light Redux - 80% off
* Mount & Blade: Warband - 75%
* Outlast - 75% off
* Shadowrun: Dragonfall - Director's Cut - 80% off

I find steam very easy to get games in descent prices, even AAA titles get super discounted on Steam.
I didnt bought a lot of games on steam this year since I recently switched my gaming habits to PS4 and I was surprised that their sales matched the steam sale prices. I was expecting to be much more expensive.
For the first time in my life I own a PS4 and is like you are in a different Gaming World ^_^
I have spend like 250 euro for just 17 games in PS4 that I REALY wanted to play which will never be available on Linux and some of them I dont think will ever be available on PC.
I feel complete now, whatever I cant play on Linux I play it on PS4
I JUST NEED TIME!!!!!

Quoting: ExpalphalogI have zero twitch skills and suck hardcore at FPS's and I greatly enjoyed the Metro games. There were a couple of parts that I had difficulty with but for the most part, you can play it pretty slow and methodical.
This is exactly what makes those games so great, in that the play style is up to you, you can play it almost entirely stealthy and slowly progress methodically and that's fully rewarding too. There's weapons and tools for all styles.

Here's a couple of real cheapies which I've enjoyed and recommend:
Vertical arcade shooter, nice fast action: Void Invaders £0.33 (83% off): http://store.steampowered.com/app/391170/
Toki Tori - old school platformer, very good £0.34 (90% off): http://store.steampowered.com/app/38700/
EDIT:
While I've been looking through the list, deciding on titles to buy - I spotted another of my purchases...
Overlord £0.87 (75% off) http://store.steampowered.com/app/11450/
This is a classic game from a few games ago, which has only recently (mid 2016) been ported to Linux. I've been enjoying it (playing at 4K resolution, no problem).

You can get Age of Empires II HD for under £4, at the moment, and it works great using the PlayOnLinux installer after you rename AoK HD.exe to Launcher.exe and launch that directly :D
