Some minor changes put up on GOL today, these changes were done based on feedback from various users to make it easier.

User statistics
- Once a month (around the 25th) a cron is run to auto-generate an article reminding people to keep their PC info up to date.
- If you haven't updated your PC info in over 4 months, a reminder will show on the homepage (it won't show if you've never done it).

Notifications
- The Notifications page now allows you to remove all read notifications.
- You can also just outright remove all notifications in your list.
- You can individually remove notifications using the little cross at the end (so you save some for later), they will do a quick fade and then be removed.
- The notifications list now has headers for new and read notifications. Hopefully with lots this will help keep it organised some more.

Other
- You can now submit your own events to the livestream events page.
- The Dark Theme for "GOL Supporters" ($5+ on Patreon) has a bunch of colouring fixes (dark theme may be rolled out to all if Patreon supporters are okay with it, have to poll them)
- Forum search can now be done in all forums or on a specific forum (new dropdown at the bottom of the search section)

Still to do
- Allow you to ignore a user and not see their comments and forum posts (that's further down the line, likely early next year as lots has to be changed for it).
- Allow you to completely wipe your PC info if you no longer wish to do it.

I want to end the year on a high, with as much done as possible! Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Quoting: GuestThe notifications are great, thanks. Being able to view the message directly from the notification screen would be a welcome addition, but not necessary.
I tried doing that, but it became a real nuisance to get it to look right. I might take another crack at it sometime, since that was before I decided to use JS rather than plain CSS for it and it may be a lot easier now.

The notification about likes is amazing, big improvement just that. Since I haven't been quoted yet I'm not sure if it will send me a notification when it happens, will it?
Great work, Liam, this is almost becoming a social network!

Did it work?

Also great work on the updates Liam. I am excited to try out the livestream feature.

I am pretty sure Liam needs to lay the basework for user tagging he talked about in the last article.

I am not sure why, the blue cross shows up as a blue square in firefox mobile, but not on desktop (even with ctrl+shift+m).

There is still some improvements I would like to see; most importantly:
- Stacking notifications: Your post X received n likes \n\n P new replies in the article A's comments
- Dismiss multiple related notifications at once when you click on one, especially for the one that should stack, as mentioned earlier.

I also think that the subscription manager should display a list with common controls and individual checkboxes instead of individual controls :)

Ah, I see. I didn't read the other post with my full attention.

We are actually researching ways to utilize "dd" to write zeros over people's /dev/sda for the optimal effect. The problem is testing this functionality as Liam is quite accident-prone as it is. :P

Also, obvious sarcasm is obvious.

Yeah, sorry. The Quote system will need an overhaul to support tagging. I have some rough ideas sketched on one of my million todo lists for it.

We don't talk about the time Liam tried to compile OBS, nope, never. Totally didn't brick my install somehow by probably following the wrong instructions.

Oo, ouch! …I mean, I'm sure glad that never happened, yup!

Liam, I just thought about something, and will test-spam you a bit with the like button, as I can't do it on myself. I wonder if it makes notifications pile up.
