The mystery is no more, the previous teaser from GOG was for their Winter sale and you can get Neverwinter Nights Diamond Edition free.
While Neverwinter Nights Diamond Edition is a Windows game on GOG, it was ported to Linux a long time ago. You can find details here on how to install it. If that doesn't work you can always try Wine.
My choice picks:
- Crypt of the NecroDancer - 67% off
- Zombie Night Terror - 15% off
- Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition - 66% off
- Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition - 66% off
- Victor Vran - 75% off
Check out this link for all Linux games on sale.
You earn "XP" for every dollar spent, for checking-in daily, and for collecting badges all throughout the sale. That XP goes towards getting free games: Shadow Warrior Classic Redux, Shadowrun: Dragonfall – Director's Cut, STASIS.
I was hoping for something more interesting with their teaser, since they only did a big sale a week or so ago. This feels too soon for another.

There's a Linux installer for Neverwinter Nights https://www.gog.com/forum/neverwinter_nights_series/enfrlinux_install_neverwinter_nights_on_debianubuntumintetc/post1
It's native and done a long time ago.

While Neverwinter Nights on GOG is a Windows game, there was an official Linux port a long time ago, so it's possible to install it natively. It's a bit complicated, though, as you have to get the installer files manually from Bioware and there are technical issues with outdated libs on modern distros and such but there are porbably a few tutorials out there that explain step by step how to install it properly on Linux with the data files from the Windows version.

I'm aware the original had been ported, but does this version GOG have support for that installer?
Edit: I've popped a note about it in the article.

There is indeed a linux version... Here is a how-to for the gog version http://wiki.dotslashplay.it/en/games/neverwinter-nights it works flawlessly I've played the whole game this way.
I've even played it via Haguchi with a friend and in persistent worlds as well.

Kinda disappointed. I already owned Neverwinter Nights Diamond both physical and digital. As for the winter sale I am broke and even if I wasn't none of the Linux games on sale interest me. Oh well, can't win them all.

Well, good to know what that teaser was about. Shame that my guess was incorrect (i.e. NWN Enhanced Edition release). Agreeing with Liam, it's a bit soon for another sale. It'll be yet another - the January sale - a couple of weeks after this one.
As someone who follows sales a lot, there aren't many discounts any different to previous discounts - "Same old, same old"
Crypt of the Necrodancer 'DRM free' - currently on GOG for £3.69 (66% off).
- I bought the Steam key version from Steam for £2.74 a couple of weeks ago (75% off).
If there were sufficient discounts on these games, I'd buy them (discounts not good enough for me):
Darkest Dungeon, Soma, Wasteland 2
Also, while observing the discount level on GOG, and sharing my observations:
Enter the Gungeon 'DRM free' - currently on GOG for £9.89 (10% off)
- That game was 50% off in recent sales on Steam.
Finishing off with... I'd be all over Witcher 3 and Shadow Warrior 2 .... if the Linux ports were out.

There's always a sale going on at a proper legitimate website that supports developers. Look how many sales we've had recently!

Just tried the script from dotslashplay given on the GOG forums (links in comments above) and it doesn't seem to be up-to-date as it's made for specific versions of the GOG installer older than the one currently available. So it stops with an error.
The original installer from Bioware might still work but it includes the data files and we're supposed to register them with a serial key. Not sure we have one with the GOG version.
EDIT: tried to extract the files from the GOG version and add the Linux binaries from Bioware. After fiddling a bit to fix old libs issues, I try to start the game and it stays "stuck" on the terminal, all I can do is kill the nwmain process.
It might be more complicated than expected to run the Linux version on a modern distro. Maybe Wine is the only solution there.

Even if it is free, I refuse to taint my library with any more games that do not support Linux out of the box.

I sent an e-mail to the author of GNU/Linux installer script for Neverwinter Nights. It looks like the Windows installer's version has been changed and number of files has been decreased. As I read the script, updating the script is not a big deal but out of my competence...

So this is more or less as I predicted in the previous article. ^_^

There is a countdown that currently says 19 hours… But 19 hours until what? Will the current rebates disappear and be replaced by others?Pretty much yeah.

Either that or simply more deals get added while keeping the old ones. GOG has adopted that method before although I can't be sure.

Nice of them to give away NWN. It's an old game, but in some regards I still consider it the best game ever made. No other game ever came with such complete modding support. I lost count how many hours I spent in the game, really.
It was also one of the very, VERY few games to release -natively- for Linux back in the days and thus was absolutely groundbreaking for out platform. The "Bah, it's a Windows game!" naysayers here really have no clue what game they are bashing here.

I haven't started it up in quite some time, so I don't even know if it still works on my set-up, but you're absolutely right that it was one of the first commercially available games that supported Linux.

Also as a point of trivia, it was originally supposed to be just a toolkit, and all the content was to be 100% user created, but BioWare decided that it wouldn't sell without a pre-made campaign, so they slapped one together just before release. I always wanted to delve into making my own modules, but I just never took the time to learn.

As has been pointed out by several people, it has a linux native version that was done by Bioware. It wasn't done quite right. Basically I think they were guilted into providing the port because they had promised one all the way up to release. However, kind of like we see sometimes these days, release day came and went without the linux version. Bioware wouldn't say anything about the status of a linux port or if it was still happening. This may have been the only game I preordered in my entire life, and it was based on the promise of linux support.
I threw a colossal hissy fit on their forums and basically ranted and raved until another user on there offered to buy my copy for full price (which I happily accepted). I guess I should give them credit for not locking my threads and banning my account.
I believe the port was finally released 6-9 months later. It wasn't a very smooth installation process (I think linux users were expected to copy the files from a windows install?) and when patches came they were usually late for linux and, again, were not the easiest things to install. I believe the installer that is out there now was done by third party community people. I was so spiteful toward Bioware that I didn't end up getting the game until 4 or 5 years ago and I have yet to actually play through it.

It's outdated.Because current GOG version has one .bin file, not two.

My thoughts are similar.. Checked at http://wiki.dotslashplay.it/en/games/neverwinter-nights and it looks pretty straightforward, yet i can't be bothered with that kind business much no longer. This game works right on and 100% through Wine and am enjoying it!

Got Викторъ Вранъ (Victor Vran) long time ago. And since then I'm patiently waiting for Witcher 3. 'Till it hit the shelf, I'm in hibernation (for GOG that is).
