Master of Orion [Steam, GOG, Official Site] was somewhat eclipsed by Stellaris for me, but it has come back with a vengeance today with the release of a major patch and a race pack DLC.

Here's a trailer:

The DLC includes three races: Elerian, Gnolam and Trilarian.

The new patch is huge though and it features something Master of Orion 2 fans may have been missing—the Antarans!

Not only does it include the non-playable warlike race the Antarans, it also includes:
- Leaders and Governors
- Minor Civilizations
- Ship profiles for Tactical Battles
- A complete revamp to Espionage
- Support for Mods in Multiplayer

Sounds like Master of Orion is going to be well worth taking another look at soon, as Stellaris has been feeling too empty for me. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

I bought the game in one of the more recent Steam sales. Can't say I am impressed, because it crashes when trying to load it 100% of the time.

Maybe they'll fix it. One day.

I bought it a while back and did not enjoy it so I refunded it. It just did not feel very MOO'Y to me. Maybe this winter sale I will pick it up again to see if ic has gotten better. The new Stellaris patch that will come out soon should improve things.

Ha, I haven't had time to play this or Stellaris yet. MOO 2 was fantastic though, I think I have it on GoG.

Having to pay for the new races is a pretty scummy move IMO. This should have been included in the full game at release, or added in the patch.

I bought the game in alpha as soon as it was available, but won't buy from them again.
