It's that time of the year folks, as Steam has cut the prices on tons of awesome games! Make sure your wallet is prepared.

As usual, the Steam website is up and down constantly as it struggles with demand for games! If you be patient and refresh a few times it does eventually work, but it will calm down in a few hours.

To preempt any "you missed x game": There's thousands of games on sale right now, but these below are my choice picks for you to check out if you haven't already.

Games
* Insurgency - 80%
* Cities: Skylines - 75% off
* PAYDAY 2 - 75% off
* Invisible, Inc. - 70% off
* Mad Max - 66%
* Retro-Pixel Castles - 50% off

* PAC-MAN 256 (60% off) gets a special mention as I think it's a fantastic arcade game. My son has been playing it with me a little and he really gets into it. If you have kids, this is one to buy.

Hardware
* The Steam Link has a massive 60% off, which really is an absolute steal!

* The Steam Controller is once again on sale with 30%. I can still recommend it after having two since release. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Damn, it's getting easier and easier to just use my Linux install over Windows.

I bought cities skylines, mad max, and then after a comment here, abe. :-)

I switched fully on Linux (Manjaro) since one month and I exploded my wallet this morning:

Torchlight II, Crypt of the Necrodancer, Sakura Swim Club, Stardew Valley, Binding of Isaac Rebirth, Danganronpa 1+2, Civilization V Complete, Retro City Rampage DX, OlliOlli, Dropsy, Transistor, Big Pharma DLC, Read Only Memories, VA-11 HALL-A, Broforce, 12 better than 6.

Ouch! My bank account is hurt ><

I recommend warmly VA-11 HALL-A, great scenario and the soundtrack is amazing!

Merry Christmas to all linuxes gamers!

Quoting: g000hEdit: Just spotted something else, and it is pretty impressive...
Double Fine has a great big bundle of games, most that run on Linux, for £4.78 (92% off - that is a massive discount).
- If I didn't already own more than half the games, I'd be tempted by that.
- Here's the url: http://store.steampowered.com/bundle/957/

Actually, this is one of SteamOS improved bundles systems, the price reduction is just 50%:

They sum up the price (on sale, IIRC)
of the games that you don't own, then apply the discount.

I like those bundles, they are a good way to complete one's collection, and I'll probably buy this one as well.

Edit: from SteamDB -- Bundle type:Complete the set

So far, I've picked up Antichamber, Insurgency, and Rocket League.

Antichamber is pretty much what I expected, and I didn't feel compelled to finish it (partly because I use the Colemak keyboard layout and the game doesn't let you change the controls making it a pain to navigate...I'll have to come up with a better solution).

If you think CS:GO is realistic, wait until you get ahold of Insurgency. I only completed the tutorial, but if you're in to war themed FPSs, this is for you, and with the sale, it's only $1.99USD!

Rocket League surprised me the most. I can't believe how addicted I am, and 110 minutes flew by...way past a reasonable time to go to bed. So, good night everyone!

Can anyone tell me, please, if game requirements say, that it needs Ubuntu 16.04, does that means, it will work only in 16.04? Or there is chance, that it will work on Ubuntu 14.04 too? Ubuntu 16.04 do not have old drivers, but I want to try Mad Max.

I'm still running Ubuntu 14.4 and Mad Max works just fine, although you will get a warning about unsupported OS, just ignore it. More important is the graphics driver version.

Quoting: tuubiIf I'd had just a couple of euros more, I might have gone for Rocket League instead of Talos...
I used puppy-eyes on the wife and it was super effective. Rocket League is mine as well! :)

Too bad I'll never find the spare time to actually become good at it.

...And Steam is DOWN....
This is our fault; too many Linux users at the same time crashed the Steam servers.
