Croteam have updated The Talos Principle [Steam] today to move the last beta build over to the stable release.

Changelog:
New features:
- Added support for latest AMD and nVidia cards.

Improvements:
- Improved stability and performance on Vulkan API.

Bug fixes:
- Fixed issues with fullscreen rendering on Vulkan on Linux.
- Fixed a rare crash when exiting the game.

If you were previously in the beta, you would have had this already. It's good to know that it was stable enough for everyone to now have it.

I'm hoping they continue to refine their engine with Vulkan, as last we heard they weren't really doing any of the Vulkan multi-threading. Even so, it still runs much better than it did with OpenGL on Linux.

Update: It looks Serious Sam 3 may also get Vulkan soon too as a developer said this:
QuoteSoon, my friends, soon. ;)

And next year Feral also will switch to Vulkan, Linux gaming is more solid day after day.
I noticed that Talos Principle is missing on GOG, and then I found this thread. Quite disappointing that developers fell into the trap of Steamworks lock-in.

And that is why I gave them 9 instead of 10..

They have exactly the same weak excuse than Feral (I give them 4 of 10 because they are not Devs)...

Shadow Warrior, another game published by Devolver, is the example that Croteam must follow.

i play this game for about 2.5 hours with Vulkan API on Linux without any problem with build 277544.
Check this video when it's done processing(90min remaining until 32GB video is uploaded):

With lastest Update 284152, the game and whole system is crashed after 20-30min gameplay.
Im forced to switch back to previous patch.

Did someone actually get build 284152 installed on their Linux system? All I seem to get is 277544, on the publicbeta branch as well. Is 284152 Windows only or something?

Just curious as 277544 freezes after a minute or two of gameplay with the Vulkan renderer on my system. I thought I'd try the latest build. Before crashing the game runs much smoother on Vulkan, although it seems V-Sync doesn't work and the tearing is quite annoying.

Sure I did. That's why I asked.

I never even found a way to install 284152, and the build that works for you (277544) crashes for me with Vulkan. Works fine with OpenGL though.

This update was normal one. Now it seems removed, or versions not shown correctly. I change update to beta/previous version ... game download files and update ... byt in-game version shown is the same 277544.

Also with Vulkan API, game load much faster.

You're right. Switching to the "previousversion" branch stops the crashing on Vulkan for me as well, even though the main menu build number does not change. I don't see much of a difference in loading times, maybe because the game's installed on an SSD. Shame about the tearing.

EDIT: I spoke too soon. Got a hard freeze right after I wrote this. Oh well, back to OpenGL for now.

I used 'Enhanced Stability' in BIOS for all possible options. RAM, CPU .. etc. Every error in RAM could be fatal. Also i dont have ECC RAM to test with.
I think some people get crashes with lastest Nvidia Driver. Look what version i'm used. Try with it.

Nah, the game runs well enough with OpenGL. I was curious but I won't lose any sleep over this. Maybe I'll try again when the Vulkan backend is finished / no longer in beta.
