It's question time today here on GOL, so sit down and come have a chat. Today I ask a very simple question: what game would literally blow your mind if it came to Linux & SteamOS?

I've asked myself this very same question and while it looks like a simple question, the truth is that it's actually quite difficult to narrow it down.

There's a fair amount of great games we don't have and that's probably a heavy understatement. There's a good 10-20 games I badly want on Linux and narrowing them down was a bit of a task.

I think my all time wish right now would be: Fallout New Vegas.

A game I actually own, as it's one of the left-overs from back when I was dual-booting. I can't bring myself to load up Windows to play it. My Windows hard drive doesn't even fit in my PC case, so it becomes a nuisance to actually load Windows any way now.

Why Fallout New Vegas? I've been a Fallout fan since a young age and I think I've actually played all of them now. I love the world, the style of it and the gameplay is engrossing as hell. It was my favourite of the series by far.

It would be amazing if any football "field" game with official and real teams and players, like FIFA/PES/whatever. We've got Football Manager since 2013 (FM14), but still no football in the field.
Another games I want would be any Japanese big title, Final Fantasy/Street Fighter/Tekken/One Piece/Naruto/Dragon Ball/...

I would say Guild wars 2 or Battlefield 1 or 4

The latest Elite. That would be fantastic. Oh, well. There's still the X series.

Also, so many people choosing Fallout 4, that is why LGBTQ people don't feel welcome in video gaming. I'm am disappointed and ashamed that such a homophobic game gets such a warm reception.
There is no place for LGBTQ people in gaming. There's only place for gamers. If you want to go full identity politics, the icecream trucks will return in about 6 months and there's plenty of left wing campuses to go around.

Rise of the Tomb Raider and Witcher 3 are the only ones I'd be exited about. So many games right now :)

I don't understand why people are saying getting Street Fighter V would blow their mind when it's probably due for Linux this month :D

Identity is not something you can take off like a coat.

Except the internet was designed for precisely that. This is not a dating site and most AAA games are not dating sims, we really do not care what gender/sexuality/blablabla the person on the other side of the wire has. Heck, we don't even care what the person looks like.

The person in question has no right to berate people(/gamers/LGBTQ gamers) over their choice of games (and he just did) just because the game somehow managed to offend this delicate snowflake. I don't care whether it's fallout, gta or even rapelay; because what people play is none of his damn business.

Video game is like a piece of art. Art can be freely provocative, like the movies.

Difficult to decide on just one. Fallout 3/New Vegas, Skyrim or Dishonoured would probably be my favourites. Not sure whether Dishonoured 2 and Fallout 4 are any good, so I don't name them now..

Yes, you can be someone else or somewhat propertyless on the internet - but you must not be forced to be, it's your choice, not other people's choice. (And no, the internet was not designed for that (obviously).)

As you can see (on page page 20 in this admitedly long thread) I critized him for what he said as well. But this doesn't make better what you said: "There is no place for LGBTQ people in gaming." There must be a place for all people in gaming, and nobody must be forced to take off his identity at the entrance.

Back to Fallout 4, I still don't know what's homophobic about it, but if it really is, that's something people must be allowed to criticize.

Single player RPG: Skyrim or Fallout 4
MMORPG: Guild wars 2
Moba: League of legends
FPS: HL3 exclusively for linux
RTS: Starcraft II

I'm trying to search info about Fallout 4 being a homophobic game and am coming with nothing. I found plenty of evidence that a part of it's community is homophobic, but I can say that about every community including the LGBTQ one, and it seems like you can pursue a same sex relationship in the game so what about Fallout 4 is homophobic?

Also any of the new Bethesda games would be a good game. The Lego games also, the C++ version of Minecraft and I would cry tears of joy if Nintendo started to make their games for Linux(it is of course almost impossible).
Uncharted 4 would be mind blowing.

The internet is designed to maintain a certain level of anonymity. It has the services, the tunnels, the whole works to make a user completely anonymous. Even without exploiting this, ISPs generally do not provide a user's personal information; not even the police. So the only thing stopping you from being anonymous is you being stupid enough to use your real name. And when you're anonymous, you can be whatever you want to be really.
As you can see (on page page 20 in this admitedly long thread) I critized him for what he said as well. But this doesn't make better what you said: "There is no place for LGBTQ people in gaming." No there musn't. Videogames are for those that play games and I'm purposely not making the distinction between gamers' gender/preference/blablabla because it doesn't matter. If you don't like a game, don't play it. There is nothing wrong with voting with your wallet, but since the SJW team is on the losing side of that deal (because they don't make/have any money) they instead come on here telling us what we can and cannot buy. There would be no gaming if it weren't for us, the same way there wouldn't be metal if it weren't for metalheads. They simply do not have the right to come in here like that, especially because they do it purely for self-interest and aren't defending anyone.
Back to Fallout 4, I still don't know what's homophobic about it, but if it really is, that's something people must be allowed to criticize.
Games do not beat the shit out of people, they don't throw * off of buildings and they don't behead unbelievers. Heck, even metalheads are inclined to flip the toilet when you're in there taking a dump and that is considered perfectly fine. Games do not distinguish between those that play them and therefore it is impossible for them to be violent, homophobic and what not.
